I don't know why people choose tons of ram like that... I'd go dual or quad e7-8870 with 64 gb of fastest ECC ram I could find. (I know) with a custom 8x 790/7990/9990 setup. Companies do custom motherboards like that. Use it for gaming and folding. 790/7990/9990 because compute. Then use a file server using raid 5+0+1 and custom dual gigabit home network, 1gigabit Internet. I planned it, $70,000. Donations anybody?

If not, you could just post the fastest CPU and GPU available and no one would ever had to post anything else. Case: Corsair Obsidian 900D PSU: Corsair AX1200i - Because efficiency is everything, better quality, less noise, lower temperatures etc. MB: Asus X79-Deluxe CPU: i7-4690X with EK Elite waterblock (gold) (360 mm rad) SSD: Intel 910 series 800 GB PCI-E GPU: Nvidia GeForce Titan w/ EK waterblock 360 mm (nothing special here) RAM: G. Skill TridentX XMP 64 GB (2933 MHz CL12) - Because this will scale much better in clocking Fans: Noctua NF-F12 This! Is a dream computer. I win! As my work horse I would go for two Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 with... wait for it... 24 Threads (48 threads in total, 24 cores)! i7-4690X wouldn't have a chance! And of course, don't forget I would have 256 GB ECC memory! (Hint: RAM-disk.) Four Quadro cards would have to be put in too. ^^, You should get an i5-4670K, that Ivy Bridge CPU is last generation. The Asus Z87-Pro motherboard is pretty good too. Also, GTX 600-series is last generation too. Latest generation is GTX 700-series (based on 2012 chip). AMD will be releasing a new GPU architecture, most likely in October. Get that instead. And get an SSD for god's sake. Kingston V300, Samsung 840 EVO, Intel 335, SanDisk SSD, take the cheapest one.

NASA don't make that... Dream gaming computer? Dream bigger, kid! CPU, good choice. SLI, well, may not be the best. I would rather go for single-GPU config personally. Micro-stutter, variable performance and so on. You wouldn't get 2x performance with SLI, never ever. Corsair RM series is perfect. Quiet and efficient (it's like the HX, just better). Want even better, go for Fractal Design Newton. Fractal Design cases are better. Either Arc XL or Define XL R2. Gigabyte, good.
Well, they have insanely powerful computers. I figure if I get a couple GPUs it'd make an awesome gaming computer, especially for Drive with all it's processing power.
I doubt those kind of computers would even run BeamNG.drive. But powerful, yes. I would love to put them to work with Folding@Home!

Well, I changed my mind, I'm buying an i5-3770 now, it has hyperthreading. And maybe a LED 1920x1080 23" screen with speakers. To the person that recommended the i5-4670K, I don't plan on buying a new motherboard, so I need something LGA1155.
Wating on my Asus P8Z68 - V Pro, also just got my new CM Storm Scout 2 Black! I currently have an i7 3770 and a Sapphire 4850. I really want a GTX 650 ti or a GTX 760
Might as well get the i7-3770K then. JK.. But seriously though, the i7 and i5 is not very difference in gaming. HyperThreading doesn't do much for that kind of applications.

I'd really just get a couple of GTX 790s or something and a set of 3 4K screens. Plus a liquid cooling system for mega overclocking.
