First off, i just want to apologize in advance if there already is a post like this.

My framerate drops by about 70% if I try to record anything and i wouldn't say that my PC is slow (it's brand new).
I have tried lowering the settings from max to about medium and even low, and there is still no difference. Help?

    My specs are:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
AMD FX 8350 4Ghz 8-core, Cooler Master Hyper EVO 212 CPU Cooler
    Geforce GTX 760 GDDR5 2048MB Windforce R2
    Samsung SSD 120GB
    Some random 3TB disc
    ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 Motherboard
    8GB Corsair RAM

What program are you using to record? I use FRAPS, I can record at 60 fps full hd without any noticeable fps impact, give it a try.

The problem is probably that it compresses it on the fly, which is computationally expensive. Try FRAPS and outputting raw video.

I had this issue for Fraps when I tried recording, there is one crucial thing you need to know: MAKE SURE YOU ARE RECORDING IN HALF-SIZE. If you are recording at 1920x1080 on full size, it will record in 1920x1080, whilst if you put it on half, you can play the game and record the game at 1920x1080 but the video output will be in in 960x540. Once you record, use some decent (Premiere Pro, Vegas, NOT MOVIE MAKER OR IMOVIE) and upscale to 1080p I recorded a video in half size of beamng, it looks fantastic.
    Here is my video:

I always record full size, otherwise I lose too much quality for me to be acceptable.

Thats why you upscale the video in premiere pro. I always use PP and it looks great.

Why bother to upscale it? The image will be upscaled and blocky. You can do that, sure, but it doesn't look any better than the original half-size video. It's the same as you would just play the half-size on full screen without doing anything.

Premier pro does attempt to apply exta post processing, it does look alot better than just watching the clip stretched to double size. I'm not saying it looks even nearly as good as recording in 1080p in the first place of course.
Many PC's just can't cope with the full resolution recording and using a *decent* upscaler is an improvement over uploading the non upscaled footage.

back to OP. One issue I had with screen recording was disk accessing. A drive can only read *or* write at one time and only a single application can use the drive at a time so if any application (not necessarily beamNG) is trying to write or read to/from the disk at the same time as your recorder is trying to write to disk it will stutter a bit. Even SSD's are effected by this limitation, I found the solution is to simply set the recording target to be a different drive from that which other software is using, USB as a last resort but that has its own bottlenecks (it may be OK though).
I would advise trying both MSI afterburner (normally a GPU overclocking tool but it is also a half decent screen recorder) and fraps too to see if that makes a difference and then finally try the record at half resolution suggestion (shouldnt have to do that far).

Don't buy A new software, only make shure that you record on another drive than your game is on.

Fraps has a free trial, MSI afterburner is free and not watermarked.

He's using an SSD so read/write speeds are not an issue.

Your ignorence makes baby jesus cry.

I record with fraps and get good results with almost the same specs as you.
