Hey, just saw this thread and remembered i was once a RPer, thought I'd post here. If you've lived around JRI recently, you may have noticed an old Oldsmobile tearing around way too fast and skimming the grass.(and getting pulled out of the ditch a lot) That's me. I work at the port, and then after my shift is over i go work at the observatory. If you were around a month or two ago you woulda seen my Barstow, which was great until the suspension problems caught up with it. Wondering where all my money goes? If I work 2 jobs i could OBVIOUSLY afford better than that Oldsmobile. Well it goes... Into this V8-swapped Miramar. Gonna be a trackday warrior someday. Currently looks great, but notice the hood's off? Engine's shot.
So Today I went for a Drive to get parts for my new Sunburst Space Wagon RS (Consult Varietymod for car) And lucky I didn't get a ticket. me Getting the Parts from a Friend (PIC WONT LOAD SO fail)
-sees cop pull up into intersection- -hears distant turbo spool- Uh oh -turbo gets louder- -cop pulls through intersection- -turbo gets even louder- -sees sunburst wagon fly over hill- -sunburst tries to stop- -crashes into cop car- Oh no, is that grayman!? Oh wait, this one is blue....

I just got done restoring this '71 Barstow for a client. He said he found it in a barn and wanted a full restore, but he wanted a custom color. Anyway, she's running a Durapower 440 crate with Sport+ tuning, 15x8 Alder Magnums front, and 15x9 rear, on 245/60 Grip-All Radial T/A's in the rear, and 215/70 Grip-All Radial T/A's in the front. It's got a 2.99 limited-slip differential, and cranks out 666 horsepower through the wheels. Picture was taken in Utah, on August 1st of this year. EDIT: Before pic included, taken at my shop in East Coast USA in July of last year.
The car has wheels, the track just appears to be really narrow. --- Post updated --- The Miramar, that is.
Hey, I found an old newspaper article, about a guy who stole a '69 Barstow and managed to escape the cops for over an hour! It's even got pictures, but it isn't complete. I posted what I could find on my blog. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jan 16 1976 $.50 in USA, $1.05 Elsewhere BEAM TIMES MASTER THIEF CAUGHT! Police in the North East have apprehended the leader of a car theft ring spreading across four states. The man, identified as 43 year old Nathaniel "Nate" Pollick, had been under police radar for the better part of a year, after reports of stolen, exotic vehicles had skyrocketed. The authorities were tipped off by an anonymous source that the ring's headquarters was a garage on 123 North Avenue, Kynoch, New Jersey. After being sighted by police, eyewitnesses say that Nathaniel Pollick jumped into a 1969 Gavril Barstow, painted Fiesta Yellow with black racing stripes, and sped off, eventually leading police on a 200-mile, hour and a half chase. Local authorities, the National Guard, and even the FBI pursued the yellow Barstow for well over an hour, before finally stopping just outside of the newly-built ETK Driving Enrichment Center, located on the outskirts of Jersey City. In pictures just recently released by the police, the vehicle careened through the set of the upcoming sequel to Bad Bob, almost striking the star, Alan Gretsch, and destroying an estimated $45000 in movie equipment and props, including a vintage 1953 Burnside Special, before launching off of a ramp in excess of 80 miles per hour. Nathaniel Pollick survived the crash, and though the Barstow was heavily damaged, after extensive repairs, it was returned to its rightful owner, 57 year old Maindrian Pace. Pollick will be going to trial for racketeering, Grand Theft Auto, felony evading and --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I touched up the pictures as best I could. Jeez, that Barstow took a BEATING!
