They must of sold fairly well in Japan as there are quite a few of them around (worldwide) and there is a cult following for them especially in the UK and here in NZ.

In my country, Galant VR4's are common because it's quite cheap thanks to the fact my country is tropical as hell and any car older than 11 years will be scrapped or destroyed.

    Well that sucks.

In NZ alot of cars I see every day are older then 10 years. I'm hopefull our government don't introduce laws like that here as alot of the cars I like are older than 10 years, As cars are too boring these days to me.

My grandfather still own's his 1976 Cadillac Eldorado, apparently he did some sort of loophole to the 11 year old car law, i'm hoping my mother doesn't sell her Toyota Cressida, she considered buying a Toyota Corolla which looks like a massive blob.

Its always amazed me that the Camry isn't in the European market, they sell tremendously in every market that they are in. Im sure Europe would buy them too.

Cars in the UK tend to be fairly modern. Most likely because once a car reaches 3 years old it has to pass a yearly test (emissions, basic safety stuff, make sure that everything critical to its role as a car works) otherwise you are not allowed to drive it on the roads. Once a car starts failing those tests and things go wrong with it lots of people scrap them and get something else. Since why spend £300 a year repairing the car if you can buy a decent new second hand car for £500 that might longer without repairs.
The general point is to ensure that the car is safe to be on the road and not a danger to others (or yourself) and prevent smog in congested areas. Not sure how ecological it is since I haven't looked into recycling processes for cars.

It would seem you get the choice of an Avensis or a Prius over here. I'm honestly not sure how well Toyota is doing in the UK, I can't claim to have seen many of them recently other than the Aygo and Yaris, one of which is just a Peugeot anyway.

Looking out my window into some car parks I can't see a single Toyota. Its strange cause generally they are thought of as a big brand. Its a sea of German (Vauxhaul, Audi, VW, BMW, Skoda [which is basically a VW]) and French cars (Citroen, Renault), then some Kia's and Hyundai's, then there are a couple Fiats and Seats with some Fords dotted around the place.

Fiat must have made one of the more useless crash avoidance systems on the market...
SKIP TO 2:31 for crash avoidance

That's just strange to me, I have driven 3 different Camry's in the past 5 years alone. Its as common as the Commodore & Falcon here.

Well, looking at the stats they seem to be in the top ten brands in this country (generally at around 7 depending on year). So they are a big deal, perhaps their cars are just so generic these days that I don't even notice them. Although I think the number of Toyota's in the taxi industry is pretty large.

I think the reason there are so many audi's and German cars is mainly because people who work at universities and small start up business' tend to have a bit more money to spend than average.

I've always wondered, why are there so many Mercedes W123-W126's in the Middle East, i read wikipedia and there was no mention of a Mercedes factory anywhere in the Middle East?

you can get pretty much every japanese car here but they are expensive. A bad AE86 for example costs around 15000€.
