I am actually pretty surprised by Steep. Its not perfect but imo its the best winter sports style game PC has had in a long while. Plus its currently in free open beta (via steam + uPlay). The engine is pretty impressive too. There are no loading times once in game, even if you teleport from one side of the huge map to the other. Similar to test drive unlimited. This is most likely for the same reasons as TDU where they only have a limited number of assets and since there is snow everywhere textures are pretty consistent
Umm... What website were you on? Here it clearly says 2TB. About half of the system's cost is storage at that point. No, I'm not defending this pile of shit, but people need to get their facts straight.
Probably because Apple puts their money into the materials rather than powerful components. Well apple laptops do feel quite nice to use but then I haven't touched a Macbook in ages.
I haven't seen much gameplay of Steep, but as a skier, the physics seem really off. It looks interesting to me, but not enough to try the beta. Have you tried playing SNOW? SNOW looks better to me so far I'd say.
Hold a Macbook air. Then hold a dell xps13. Similar price range. The dell has a better feeling keyboard. Higher spec. Similar battery. Due to smaller bezel it's got a larger screen in same form factor. More ports. Higher pixel density for display. Build quality to me, feels as good as if not better than the Macbook. Apple do spend some money on materials, but the materials they use aren't that much more expensive to work with too inflate their prices that much. There are premium windows laptops built just as well, more powerful and for the same price point or less.
I played snow maybe about 2 months ago, I think it was on a free weekend . It was filled with bugs and the player models were super rigid making them look unnatural. The ragdoll physics in snow were also pretty bad imo. Maybe it's improved a lot since then or maybe more arcade style snow sports look more natural to me. Here is some gameplay:
Someone on my street has a slammed S2000. Long story short they have to park right at the other end of the street to their house My street has probably the worst parking in the whole of my area as well. Large speedbumps, and big curbs not suitable for even a stock S2K...
The player models are definitely better in Steeper. The ragdoll physics are very "glitchy" looking in Snow, that's for sure. I haven't played it for a while, but I doubt that's been fixed. Also, the camera is not so great in Snow. Steep, definitely looks much prettier. But Snow is free to play. I'm downloading Steep right now, and I'll compare them myself.
I would then argue reliability. I just had a 4 month old Latitude E7450 give up the ghost. I originally thought it was just a failure of the Intel SSD, but upon further inspection using both a SATA and PCIe M.2 I found that the slot is bad. I have no idea what other damage there is to the SATA and PCI controllers, not to mention the controllers took that poor Intel SSD with them. I've not had much luck with Dell hardware outside of their monitors (which are amazing). It's also important to remember that Apple uses custom CPUs and such. They don't just buy the standard off the self part, they have Intel create custom packages. Also, keyboard feel is based on the individual. I haven't used an XPS myself, but in my eyes, there's no way the keyboard feels better than Apple's old design. My 17" MacBook Pro has the most comfortable keyboard fitted to any laptop I've ever used. I find the keys to be spaced perfectly, there's very little in the way of wrist pad flex, and they just feel orgasmic. Too bad they ruined it with those stupid butterfly switches.
But But a pro or air doesn't use the old design. Only one keyboard I've ever used is worse. The Microsoft surface touch cover
No, the Air is currently the only Apple laptop currently using that design, the other two use the butterfly switch, which is already been established as horrific. All be it, the 13" is really the nice one, the keyboard on the 11" is way too small.
The keyboards on older macbooks are ok, however I hate the sharp edge along the front of the laptop. usually I don't rest my wrists when typing, however with a macbook my wrists keep sliding along the sharp edge at the front which causes me skin irritation. It would be far better for them to round the wrist rest off more gradually.
My bad, I checked both the US and UK sites but I didn't configure them manually. Other wise I would have flipped when I saw the £1800 2TB SSD o.o
If I had £350 burning a hole in my pocket this tablet seems pretty decent. Would love to have something with a CPU faster than an Atom in it
If I had a infraction-combo counter thing, it must have gone to the stars. Just had to clean a whole thread certain people spammed to death. Oh, bonus of 1 ban too. Do not do that.
Huh, what thread was that if we may know? I couldn't stand dealing with some of the stuff moderators have to deal with in the forums.
