For keyboard/non axis users (aka not using pedals for throttle/brake), it would be nice if there was an option to have the cars go at half throttle by default, then go full throttle if you hold a different key down. City Car Driving has a feature like this and it would be nice to have in BeamNG.
Or you could just pick up a controller, its a much better experience. That same "half throttle" problem exists with steering and braking just as much as it does throttle.
I have a steering wheel, but the pedals broke, and none of the replacement pedals (like Thrustmaster T3PA) work and a new controller is way too expensive even if I buy it myself (according to my parents).
£25 in tesco I just got a controller for and that's not even as cheap as you can go. Xbox 360 wired units I've found for sale under £20. I got a second hand light damage ps4 controller for £15. Same shop had 360 wired second hand for under £10. Controllers aren't these £100 investments
I want the DFGT because of its H shifter, but even a decent used one is already more than 2x what my parents' idea of "expensive" for a wheel is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0015HYPOO/ref=olp_product_details?_encoding=UTF8&me=
You know that's not an H shifter right? It's a sequential shifter. Also what is your parents idea of expensive? I got my G27 for around 170 euro but in the UK i'm sure they can get cheaper second hand, even more so a DFGT.
Prices depend on location. A legit 360 controller in my country costs around 40 USD. A wireless controller costs 100 USD.
Still, it's a shifter and I want it. My current (partially broken) controller was about $80 which they thought was a lot. I think anything ~$80 USD or under (preferably with a shifter) will be good.
Under 80 dollars with a shifter might be hard to find, but search the second hand market, usually some good stuff there
Here we go with this again... I know that, but I would buy a really nice wheel if I was living on my own with a good salary.
Not doing that right now for 2 reasons 1) I'm buying car show tickets for the whole family in January 2) By the time I save up for a good wheel I will have a real car anyway
How so? Only 4 people, and it's basically my Christmas presents to them. Plus it will use most of the money I've earned this year.
guys i think this idea is not that bad if you change it a little the steering uses a similar method where touching the button doesnt cause full lock but instead starts the rotation and slowly speeds it up. we could have a system where the gas button starts at like 40% gas and after 1-2 seconds increases to 100% - that might help keyboard players.
