My computer isn't as good. I bought BeamNG back in early 2015, and it looked like a good game. It ran terrible on my old HP Pavilion G7, but at least it ran.

Then I got my Desktop Computer working, and gave it a better GPU, that my brother had to play LoL.

It ran from 20-40 FPS most of the time. Now with the newer updates Gridmap runs from 30-60, East Coast USA runs at 10-25.

The thing that is lagging the game for older computers the most is the Cars/Trucks. I notice that anything other than the stock vehicle, is very laggy.

I would like a new setting in the Options called: "Automatic Optimizer". That would detect what computer you have, CPU, GPU, and RAM. Then it would set custom settings, based on a Mini-Test that the game would do. Such as a box that pops up when you click it, saying: "Testing GPU, CPU, and RAM." then when it finishes it would say: "Based on your computer's score, the Settings are at Ultra, High, Med, Low, or Lowest." And would optimize the game for Low RAM computers, such as when my Desktop had 4GB, one time it said: 4GB out of 4GB in use. Now I have 8GB, and it says from 4-7GB in use.

I would just like a function that optimizes the game for old computers.

    My Spec's:

AMD Phenom II Turbo Core to 3.2GHz
    4x2 Ballistix Sport 1600MHz
Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series
    WD Blue 500GB
    Acer X223W
    Acer P205H

An average computer that someone might want to play on:

Intel Core i5, or an Intel Core i3
    4GB, to 12GB
WD 300GB HDD, or Samsung 120GB SSD
Intel HD Graphics, AMD Radeon, Nvidia Mobile

    Feel free to respond.

Or a table on the website, where you just enter your GPU, CPU, RAM, and your target FPS. Then it would give you the optimal settings for it. To get these settings, we would take the help of the community and they would submit these settings with their specs.

Actually that would be a really good idea and in theory not to hard to create we'd just have a thread for submissions on performance in various scenarios then create that table using the results from the thread.

    good idea.

When you say "optimize", what do you mean? If the game doesn't run very well, you need to lower the settings as your computer is not fast enough. So just open the settings and lower the settings until you get your desired framerate.

I mean that it would ask you for Admin, then change GPU settings, such as Fan Speed, Core Speed, Memory Speed, etc.

yeah no this is not a smart idea at all.

If your machine has overclocking headroom, you've got to do that yourself. If not, lower your settings. To write a database of what works for what hardware and include overclocking would be completely and utterly insane. Doesnt take a genius to work out that you need to lower the settings.

So you want the game to overclock your hardware? Uhh nope. Not going to happen. There isn't a single game on the planet that does that, and for good reason. Every chip is different, plus overclocking hardware can damage it if done improperly.

The game already sets Windows power plan to High Performance, which forces your processor to operate at top speed. From there, either lower your settings or upgrade your hardware.

    The game has System Requirements.
If you started with a PC that is below the minimum requirements already, there isn't much that can be done.

BeamNG.Drive is what it is, a very CPU hungry game that needs decent hardware to run.
Not to mention that Integrated Card are not suitable for heavy 3D gaming too..

Lol my computer is so old I'm not quite sure what it is. A Compaq something. Runs at about 5fps on the tech demo, and that's outdated by 3 years. I'm scared to see what the real game would be like.

well, first of all, BNG is CPU-based. Not GPU based.

Second, if you have a GPU that your brother used to play LoL with and you call it a "good" GPU..... You aren't exactly up to date in hardware.
