So about 2 months ago I picked up a Dualshock 4 (PlayStation 4 controller) from Newegg. When it works, it works great in the games that I've gotten to work with it so far (BeamNG is one of said games). However, most of the time it keeps disconnecting and reconnecting every time I move it more than a millimeter. I personally believe it's the way the port is designed on the controller and how it's near the back of the controller. I think if the port was right between the status light on and the touchpad I wouldn't have this issue.

If anyone has a Dualshock 4 and has had this issue, advice on how to solve is appreciated.

Some methods I'll try (list will be updated as they are tried):
    • Taping the end of the micro-USB cable that goes into the controller to the top of the controller

Cable is screwed, get a new one. Had exactly the same problem with mine. Get something like this:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012A1VACS

Have a few and they fit really tightly in all devices, doesnt have the be that exact cable, really anything that is well reviewed is fine. Just a lot of cheap micro usb cables are awful.

Cable is brand new, got it at the same time as the controller. Should've mentioned that. The cable I got had good reviews: Rosewill 6.5ft

I have some other micro-USB cables lying around, I'll try some of them.

Hmm, in that case yeah just try out some other cables and see if that changes anything, worst case scenario it could be the controller port itself.

I had the same issue with my first controller. The port on the controller got loose because I used it while the cable was plugged in. I didn't want to deal with it so I just traded it for a new one at Walmart and I use Bluetooth now. If you can, use Bluetooth so you're not moving the controller around while it's plugged in. If not just try to make sure that you keep the controller steady when you're using it and maybe rig something up the keep the cable locked in sturdy to the controller.
