The "Low Coolant" light came on on my way to work today, so I checked and my radiator was empty. Turns out my pre-heating which never worked anyway had a leak so I just took the whole unit out and replaced a heater hose. And radiator antifreeze is fuckin expensive, 17€ for 1 Liter!
Replaced the spark plugs, ignitions wires and distributor cap+rotor, Along with the fuel filter and air filter.
The 07 started misfiring, of course the exact day I sell the 06. It stumbles at idle and low rpms. Pulled the codes and it says cylinder 7 misfire. It's weird for it to start so suddenly. I'll take the coil and plug out to see what the deal is.
Pulled hazard and turn signal control module out of the focus. Was having odd issue where the hazard light was lit on centre console. Indicators weren't working. Hazards weren't flashing. Pulled module. Hooked it upto a bench supply and pulled up the outputs (module runs open drain) and basically had it setup exactly as it is on the cars wiring to see can we get it to work there or if the car wiring is at fault. Answer? That module is completely screwed. Utterly broken. It does not behave as datasheet suggests. It does not behave consistently. It's broken.
Cylinder number 7? coil on plug? these are foreign concepts to me. now that that's out of the way, I finally got around to unslamming my car. what a difference on these battle torn roads. I haven't thrown it into a turn yet so no idea how much it will lean. here's the before and after. now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to jump curbs and sign up for the world rally championship.
Probably a fouled coil. I hope. Merc has been running rough for a while. Needs plugs as well. Check Engine light is on. P0443. Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve Circuit. It's a wiring issue that I'll need to track down so it probably will stay parked for a few weeks until I can fix it or pay to have it fixed. Focus also needs a tune up. Stalled at the gas station after filling. Occasionally starts really rough but idles up and is fine. It'll run rich and stumble a bit during warm starts to. Runs like a champ otherwise. Probably going to be my main car for the winter. Thing is like a go kart. So fun to run through the gears getting on the highway.
Could be. I'm thinking it could be a fouled plug or something. That car gets absolutely abysmal gas mileage, it needs plugs or coils or something anyway. Might be oxygen sensors causing that. Does your focus run smooth? My friend's is ridiculously shaky at idle and low rpms. It appears to be running right, it just shakes. A ton. As you accelerate from a stop the whole interior rattles and it kinda drones. It's the only focus of that gen I've ever dealt with, I'm not sure if that's just the way it is or if it's not running right. That thing is a ton of fun to drive though.
Managed to get wheelspin accidently in a Nissan Cube. The ABS was shitting itself for the next 5 minutes (would not stop binging)
That is exactly how my dads is. Sounds like you're in a Cessna when he starts it. It's engine mounts. They go bad very often on the Focus's it seems. He also has a cracked manifold AND a small hole in the muffler. Mine is like butter compared to his. Even with my lunchbox/resonator cut off, mine is much quieter than his.
This is why I love these small cheap cars. always something to work on! Oh of course. id drop it an inch or 2 but not 5 like it was. I'd like more stiffness but also want the clearance. all 4 springs and shocks were 200 bucks new so I figured this will do until I can afford the konis I want. I'm very happy with it as it sits now for daily driving. civic type r sway bars might help but for now I'm just happy to now.be terrified of every single imperfection I drive over. it's like going from an f1 car to a crown vic.
We finally got snow, so the wagon got some action. Much wheelspin was had, even with AWD and good snow tires.
An inch snow finally arrives and Facebook immediately lights up with people who don't know how to drive. And I'm fairly certain the the cat is getting clogged on the silver Dodge.
Did those wheel bearings by the way Thanks. it was rusted on so it took a solid 5 minutes with the sledge but it was 5 bolts all together and done.
Took the flower leis I had on my mirror and rear windshield sill in my old car and finally decided to put them in my new one. Honestly I can't see half of my radio but I don't really care.
I wanted some better light. The first picture is the original Ford H7 bulb. The following is from GREAD, 8500k. Sadly it had some kind of yellowish reflection still. So i ordered W5W bulbs, to replace the parkinglight. Then it was full white with a light blue stitch. Like i wanted it. The light is awesome and the bulbs are street legal. The next thing i will do to the Mondeo is exchanging the normal V6 intake to a ST200 intake manifold and replacing the injectors with the ST200 ones. It will get me the "hyper" 205hp, instead of the 170hp.
I removed the offending plug and coil yesterday. Plug well was nasty, I appear to have somewhat of an intake leak. The coil looks pretty good, the spring isn't rusty and the boot isn't dry or cracked. I tried testing the resistances but I couldn't really get any decent readings. I was able to test the resistance between the two pins in the connector and it read within spec, but I couldn't get any reading between the spring and connector pin. Dunno what I did wrong. The plug is heavily worn. I think that's my problem. Ordered 8 new motorcraft plugs. Cleaned the plug and coil up and put them back in the car. Stumble on idle is completely gone, but it will miss and buck a bit under load at low rpms. It's irritating, but I can deal with it until my plugs come in.
My car does this going up slight hills at around 45-60mph while in 4th gear. I should really get some new plugs. They could be originals for all I know. 135k miles on them if they are.
Installed some real life scrapeworks springs and shock absorbers on my real life ETK I Unlike my mod it is still drivable though The daylight picture is before. Could have been classified as a SUV and the rear springs were sagging after 23 years. The rear shock absorbers were leaking oil pretty bad, too. The rear wheels wobbled like crazy when driving over bumps, as damping was nearly non-existent
