    heres what i did

apply split edge at 50 degrees to the hood
    select all
shift click the hood so that it is selected and i can see the modifier
ctrl c - copy the modifiers
    export

    did i do it right?

Not sure. What I meant was to select a part, apply the modifier, then deselect that part and select another one and apply the modifier again, repeat etc.

It's not a simple process, but... hell, it works. ;)

You really only need to apply it to most of the visual parts (body, fenders, hood, exhaust, wheels, etc)

You can copy modifiers to other parts very easily:
    >Select one part, e.g. hood and add edge split
    >Select the entire mesh (box select works well), re-select the hood so it is highlighted in a slightly lighter orange than the other parts
    >CTRL+L, Select modifiers

Also when you are exporting make sure the exporter applies modifiers during export:

Something feels off about the handling. It's extremely slide-happy compared to the regular covet.

Aww what, come on? Ours are completely different, mine is basically just a rally/sport edition of the covet, yours is a dedicated Widebody Covet, I think people would like to have both :)
