Better Control Options: Hello BeamNG users! I know how users use inputmaps with all your controls and the device you use. But, I always found it kind of complicated for me, and I am sure it is aswell for other users aswell. Now, my idea is to add a feature that simplifies the way you change the device(s) and controls for the game. For example, you can activate any racing wheel and gamepad(XBOX360 controller for example) and as an extra feature, you can optionally use the keyboard with any controller you want. Also, a list is included with all controls in the game and just by right or left clicking the control you want to change, all you have to do is click the button you want to use to assign to the control (add 2 entry boxes for each control, for example, you can assign the arrow keys and the WASD keys aswell to accelerate, brake and turn) Also, you can press the ESC button to cancel. In updates, you can add support options for all compatible controllers like sensitivity or for racing wheels, you can change the steering range, like you could turn the wheel all the way and the steering wheel in the game would be equal to it, you can do things like that. You manually add the steering, brake, acceleration and clutch axis so you can re-add an axis to debug and stuff. I really hope you like and can implement my idea. I really wish the game could be less complicated and I hope you think so too... Also, you can post a reply in this thread adding any ideas to my suggestions or and mistakes I may have made... Thanks! -Statefan0826
Well this is a very obvious feature that Im 100% sure will be added, there has been TONS of suggestions in the past about this, and I defiantly agree this should be up there in terms of priority They have a lot of things on their plate, not resetting all options and changes when you do an update for instance is another big one.
Well, hopefully they could implement it, I found a lot of features involved coding and programing which is pretty complicated and I hope they will make things easier in the future.
Yes agreed, that's one thing I ranted about in the past on the forums, is accessibility. Meaning easier to use. Settings, options, actually knowing all the key bindings, editor, making and downloading cars and maps. Because I know from previous games, the game will start getting messy eventually with custom cars and maps which is the majority of this game as it is. That's when you actually find the BeamNG folder. Adding some more accessibility would add a MASSIVE amount of polish to the game, adding to perceived quality and "Triple A" feel. Really it would be the difference between a polished fun game worth paying for (for me its defiantly worth paying for even as it is), and just a tool to crash people's custom cars in, in which you need to learn a lot to even just use it.
The harder they make things, the less people can do it at all. The best thing about this game is how simple downloading mods are, (sooo simple. ) but in games in minecraft, it is absolutely impossible for people (like me) but in this game it is really easy. But, in many games have the feature I described and those games were released with the feature, but not this game. If they are gonna keep inputmaps, could someone tell me how to activate atleaste? (please?) -Thankyou guys (Statefan0826)
Well every little detail counts when making games worth money. Most Triple A games have people to choose the colour of the main menu lol http://wiki.beamng.com/Controls the actual files to edit for controls are in BeamNG/beamng.drive/scripts/client/inputmaps there's one for keyboard, 360 controler ect, idk how to add wheel support and make sure once you get the controls how you want it, copy the file and put it somewhere safe, they will reset when ever the game updates.
Wait, I mean like how do I activate it? Like how do I make it work? Is there some way how I activate it? I downloaded a inputmap for G27 but I don't know how to activate it...
Hm if I recall, in the keyobar one there's a "Use keyboard: 1" or something, change it to 0, then the onef or the G27 to 1? totally guessing atm
