Edit: I figured out what was going on. It's no longer happening.

Indeed I do, I found some app that I don't remember installing in my Chrome Extensions called Fast Search 1.13. I removed it, and now that doesn't seem to happen. However, once I reopened Chrome, it reappeared, but it says that the extension may have been corrupted, so I assume that I got it good.
Edit: I just removed it a second time, and reported it abuse to the Chrome Web Store.

I've been checking the Task Manager, and there is an Internet Explorer that won't go away. It doesn't seem to be the same IE, since I opened up Internet Explorer to see what was going on, and both of them were opened at the same time. One just said Internet Explorer (the real one), and the other one says Internet Explorer (32 bit). Whenever I click end task, it just comes right back. I also tried to delete Internet Explorer to see if that would get it to shut up, and it mentions something called Trusted Installer. I looked into it, and apparently it's from Microsoft. I also checked Uninstall Programs, and there was nothing new installed, except for Paint.NET, which I recently updated yesterday. Keep in mind that what I'm dealing with right now happened today.

Norton also went nuts, did a scan, and I allowed it to restart the computer. I think I may have downloaded something unintentional.

Is this site familiar to any of you?

Let me explain why I went here: I saw in the Community Screenshots some pictures of the old 1958 Chevrolet Apache mod, and I thought that 0.8 may have did something to fix it, since apparently that happened with an old D-Series mod. The Apache always spawned broken after an update. I don't remember which update though.

I went to a crash test video for the truck on Youtube and it had a download link to modsgaming.ru, I went there, clicked on the download button, and it sent me to the site pictured. I eventually downloaded the file, which came with a self installer, which really annoyed me, as I prefer to install things myself. I installed it twice, cause the first time, Norton stopped it, and usually with Norton, I noticed that it likes to chase ghosts, because I'd download things that I know are 100% safe, and it goes after it, thinking it's not safe, so I disregarded Norton's actions. Second time, it almost installed, but then it said something that I don't remember, and then it was gone. I noticed the odd occurrences when I came here to the forum.

Any ideas of what to do?

something sketchy is going on for sure. can you end IE in task manager? if so, i would try that. if it shows up again something is wrong.

as for the chrome app, try re-installing chrome.

I can't end IE in task manager. I've also tried the Resource Monitor.

I think Chrome is resolved already.

Yes, two Internet Explorers. One says just Internet Explorer, the other says Internet Explorer (32 bit). The latter is the one that refuses to close.

I closed and reopened Chrome, and that stupid app came back, even though I've removed it like two times already.

I checked the uninstall a program in Control Panel. The only new thing there was Paint.NET. However, I updated it yesterday. I know 100% that Paint.NET is perfectly fine.

I found the local folder in appdata and saw some items with today's date. Should I clear items in the local folder?

I cleared out some things in the temp folder in the local folder in appdata. Did absolutely nothing. That unclosable Internet Explorer is still there.

And that app called Fast Search keeps coming back every time I reopen Chrome.

To me, it sounds like you've been somewhat careless, and managed to install some malware. I recommend running programs like adwcleaner, Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro, and JRT. (Hitman Pro only has a trial for free, and from what I remember, JRT is somewhat confusing to get working).

If these don't remove it, just do more research on "Fast Search".

    Hopefully this helps you. :)

I've done research on Fast Search. Nothing helpful has turned up.

I've decided that I'll try one of those programs, but I don't trust it.

Norton finished doing the quick scan, and it found nothing.

Those programs aren't full antivirus programs. They won't interfere with Norton, or any other antivirus. They are safe as well, and generally effective. They simply scan for malware, etc., and generally do it much better than any antivirus program I know

As for Norton... Norton definitely isn't known for being very useful. I strongly recommend Avast, or AVG.

Once again, I hope this helps. :)

Okay, I downloaded adwcleaner, and apparently it worked.

I haven't seen the Internet Explorer (32 bit) anywhere in the Task Manager. Fast Search was present in my Chrome Extensions for a minute. Once I removed it, it hasn't come back since.

Im sure Norton is better than Mcafee though.
My computer came with it and it liked to do a full scan of every single file of my computer and took over 1 hour and that was within the first couple months when i had only used about 20-30Gb of space on the SSD. Near the end, just before i deleted Mcafee, it would take close to 2 hours to do a full scan. It also liked to pop up stupid and useless messages everytime i used my laptop and several more times while using it as well as the constant scanner service that used over 100mb of ram from just being open and not doing anything internet related.
