There's something broken on your end. Transmissions don't even have the ability to break yet and the gear shifts aren't slow at all. You must have outdated mods installed, which isn't the game's fault. You're lucky the community here is so helpful. I know a lot of forums that would have insta-banned you after the first post. All changes made to the powertrain were also detailed at length in the devblog post for 0.8. I don't know what more you want.
-_- figured out how to edit thread titles though seemingly only after a staff/dev saw it and i looked for a 3rd/4th time. turns out you can't do it when you edit the post you have to do it under a seperate thread tools option, i'm guessing something for staff/moderators to use but only the edit title is available for users. --- Post updated --- Using all vanilla parts on my 200BX, standard 5 speed trans, 1st gear keeps breaking. the slow shifts have been fixed it was the assisted clutch/throttle option which i've never seen any documentation about being added in as an option. http://images.akamai.steamuserconte...739/92F1F6263A7F9793CEA2293E62E66058379BD5A7/
Are you stalling? Try pressing V. I just went into the game and deliberately drove around changing gears without the clutch and couldn't get anything to break.
Using all vanilla parts on my 200BX, standard 5 speed trans, 1st gear keeps breaking. the slow shi No i'm not stalling, i added a screenshot http://images.akamai.steamuserconte...739/92F1F6263A7F9793CEA2293E62E66058379BD5A7/ First gear is broken just by doing a burnout in first i'm not even changing gears. 100% vanilla game no mods loaded, i can give you the file for the tune.
When I used to rant all filthy and insult the devs work back in early/mid 2014 due to self inflicted ignorance NO ONE was interested in any of it. These forums have indeed progressed. Glad your'e getting your issue resolved and learning the hard earned prize of humility.
http://images.akamai.steamuserconte...619/38B09B3D8EAC344BA452A04E3AC0DC457E7B09C1/ full throttle, in gear no clutch XD 1st deffinatly broken Tis the internet where at the press of some keys you can get what ever is on your mind onto your screen and into pipes with noone to interupt, stop or tell you it's a bad idea. Op and title have all been edited, may edit again to add what i'm now finding isn't a shifting issue it's just the transmission gear breaking --- Post updated --- I just went though the 0.8 dev blog and still couldn't find where they said they added it or it could be disabled.
You must have a mod in there somewhere. I can't replicate your issue. Try running the game in safe mode.
I just went though the 0 There are no mods, i disabled them all even my sound mod. I can't upload the .pc file for the tune here, somewhere you want me to upload it?.
They didn't explicitly say where they were, but they said they existed. To be frank, it's too late and I'm not dedicated enough to download a tune. I tried breaking a similar 200BX as best I could but couldn't.
I saw the "more advanced shifting logic with sift timing, clutch and throttle help." but that doesn't say there's an option to turn it off, just sounds like they did more tweaks to the transmission shifting like they did when the introduced "Real automatic" and the configuring though options i never saw however probably still wouldn't have worked it out as i thought (and tested) it was the pie wheel in power terrain options but it's not it just does the same thing as pressing q still does, i had no idea you had to go into the game menu options and it was in there.
The shift times are the way they are so that it does not upset the car balance when shifting. It is making a safe shift that allows the revs to fall or rise to ~ match by the time the shift is done. If we made it "bang-shift" every gear people will be spinning out constantly in arcade mode when the car shifts in a corner or during braking. If you care that much about the 0.01 second difference I suggest learning to shift with clutch, with no assists as described above.
--- Post updated --- for grip racing i agree however i tend to be going around corners sideways, also that's now been fixed. enable clutch/throttle assist and you'll see why i was having huge amounts of trouble with how I drive. (Twin charged Grandmarshal blowing tires out at 400klm/h+, drifting or drag racing/wheelies for lols) It's been worked out with the shifting and Diamondback and told me about changing the clutch imput from auto or what ever default is to direct and now clutch input is instant (because for me it's button activated not analog like a clutch pedal.) now it's just 1st gear in my 200BX rally, 100% Vanilla breaking first gear. --- Post updated --- The gears are breaking basically when ever you just dump it into gear. With a maxed S3 turbo in the 200BX, standard 5 speed manual. 14' adler draggers. i can clutch dump any gear (i mostly did 1st/Rev) and no break, the second i went from neutral to 1st/Rev without clutch (or 1st broken gear into second without clutch) it only takes two or three times and the gear is broken
I have experience the gear breaking many times as I drive fairly aggresively and often use a keyboard. Is there any way to strengthen the gears in a jbeam or is it just a set thing in lua that cannot be changed/is too hard to find.
Hello, Quickly gave a skim to thread and stuff has happened it seems. In short, but I see it has been sorted out already, there is no need to swear or have that kind of behavior. I personally think we are quite communicative with the forum, there is no need to do that in order to get our attention or such. The default filter applies clutch gradually (So it's possible you were shifting when the clutch wasn't fully engaged yet). The direct filter simply dumps the clutch as soon you press it. That said, I see your problem is the fact that, changing from N to 1 gear without using the clutch and the car being stationary will break the gear. (You are forcing the gear, resulting in grinding) If I tried that on my poor italian car, I'd probably kill it sooner than your 200BX. More or less, the difference between engine speed and wheel speed is what causes that. The bigger, the more damage Posts that continue with the useless bashing will be deleted. Keep the discussion sober please. PS. You can send your .pc file here. First you need to ZIP it, as .pc is not an accepted attachment format.
The problem that i'm having now is the fact i can shift from neutral to 1st without clutch and it breaks (yeah okay i get that, this still comes back to my argument of not being able to turn some things off for the sake of fun) but running 14' drag tires and enough power to stand the car on its back bumper, i can dump the clutch constantly and wheelie it but the gearbox wont break, to me this seems broken consdiering the gears must have some kind of durablity or is it just scripted so that X many changes without clutch the select gear breaks?. On another note, i haven't seen mention that changing without the clutch would break gears and there also isn't an audio que in the game when i shift without clutch which means when i shift with clutch i don't actually know if it's recognised me pressing the clutch, shifting and releasing or if i've shifted slightly before or after i pressed and released the clutch. ((Many many years playing forza this is just how i play manual w/clutch with a controller.) Also my steam review has been edited to correctly reflect my current standing on a "yes/no would/n't recommend basis"
Clutch damage is not thing at the moment. So dumping the clutch will not have any effect. Not using the clutch at all will break the gear instead. That's the system working as intended for now. Surprise! No audio for 'gear grinding' is present at the moment. Just bring up the 'Pedals App' on your screen if you want to see if your clutch is being pressed or not. http://wiki.beamng.com/Editing_UI Your issue with the clutch not engaging fast enough should be already solved by changing its filtering mode to direct, as suggested before. If you don't want the gear breaking, and want to disable this aspect of the simulation for reasons I don't really understand, you can do it by editing a line. This will make you edit a core file of the game. It may break stuff in your game, do it at your own risk. Go to BeamNG.Drive/lua/vehicle/powertrain/manualGearbox.lua Open with notepad or whatever you have Go to line 63 and put -- infront of it Enjoy your less accurate simulation experience
I shall enjoy my more realistic experance, in my opinion the gear wouldn't break but the sychro for the gear would so it's be a pain to get it in gear unless you properly rev matched (which is a thing by the way, it's how we had to get cars into the shop when they had clutch problems) so I will enjoy being able to (atleast attempt to) rev match and shift without the clutch without the code saying "No this isn't a thing, 1st is broken" Go put 2000HP though a bog stock 240SX trans and watch it explode, once again rev matching and shifting without a clutch is a thing. also "Subaru" XD Another little article http://www.caranddriver.com/features/how-to-drive-a-stick-without-a-clutch
