How do vehicles with high friction tires such as top fuel dragsters do standing or nearly standing burnouts, and could one get that to happen in beam?
Usually the dragstrip has a slippery portion on the burnout strip that makes the tyres slightly more slippery.
The burnouts are done in order to warm up the tires. Racing tires (such as drag slicks) have very good grip, but only at high temperatures. When cold they are actually really easy to slip and spin as they have very low grip at low temps. BeamNG has no tire thermal simulation at the moment so you cannot do this.
He reason you cant do burnouts with the drag tyres in beam is simply because the friction coef is unrealistically high with 3.5. The race tyres in game have a friccoef of 1.36 and the skinny tyres like on the burnside have a friccoef of around 1.05-1.10. That gives you an idea of how high they are. I tested some a while back and a realistic fric coef for them would be between 1.7-1.8. Not 3.5.
Longitudinal grip is down for sure on all tires in general. I can't put down 230bhp to the ground in a slick and LSD equipped covet, yet more than twice that is doable in real life on street tires. Give them time with the tires they'll get there.
