But the question becomes, would you go DOHC 4.6L or Coyote? Hell, you could even go DOHC 5.4L from the Lincoln Navigator. I'm not sure how well that woud fit. This is tempting. The navigator would be cool. That's all far outside my scope of knowledge unfortunately, so I'd say build the heads on the 5.4 and it should fly.
I dig the decals, they really enhance the whole ex cop car look, but leaving them on is borderline impersonation and I wouldn't want the extra attention. I'd leave them on for a day or two and show everyone who would get a kick out of it, then take them off.
It goes without saying than you need to replace them with more aggressive pinstripes. Also do a Ford racing stripe on trunk roof and hood. That could have been the fuck boy vic to spare the other 2. Nothing wrong with having 3 of the same cars. My friend who's Integra coup I'm building just got a 4 door Integra gsr for a dialy. I'm getting another one soon too I'm all about that.
Fun thing with that swap is that because the 4.6 and 5.4 are basically almost the same, it's direct bolt-in swap. They make a spacing kit to use the 4.6 intake on the 5.4 (which you have to do, else you have to cut the good) and it doesn't even need to be tuned. Only thing that would require some fabrication is the clutch for the manual transmission.
Funny you say that, I plan to get a 2007 Legacy GT Wagon OR a Fiesta ST OR a Focus ST. The Legacy would be cheaper but, I'm not sure yet. We'll see what I save over the summer.
The manual wagons are SO rare. I haven't seen one yet. I saw one regular Legacy Limited manual but, that's not the same.
Met my mother in Anchorage after work today to look at cars. Ended up sealing the deal on a 2014 Dodge Journey, low trim level and floppy suspension but it's got plenty of kick, Subaru-style all-the-time AWD, very low miles, and is, very importantly, not white or gray (it's a bronze/dull orange color). Bit of a muggle mobile, but it has potential (that she's not going to exploit). Hopefully we don't end up regretting this. The left taillight and left side of the rear bumper seem to indicate that it's been bonked at some point, but the Carfax was clean and it seemed to be fine mechanically.
The 3-valve maybe, but the 2-valve 5.4 is pretty alright. I've grown up around Ford's 5.4 modular V8 (most of them the 3-valve) and have never had a problem with them... apart from the one time it took a week to change the spark plugs in my mom's Expedition because they kept breaking off in the head like they all do. And let's be honest now, the 4.6 wasn't really all that great either.
It's better than the 5.4. I guess. It definitely has less "modular quirks" than the 5.4. It's a hell of a bulletproof engine.
I've only had close interaction with one 4.6, it was in a 01 F150 a friend of mine used to have about 3 years ago. You could tell it was a modular, heads made out of cheese, terrible exhaust leaks, strange ticking, but it never let him down. even when he got rid of it, it had 270,000 miles on it, and it still ran like a noisy, ticking, top. However all but one 5.4 I've been around has been a total pile. The one exception was an 08 F150 we had at work, it was a plain jane base model truck, power nothing, vinyl seats, but that truck could break the tires loose just by looking at the gas pedal funny. No ticks, no noises, 8 functional cylinders. We've got two 6.2's as well, one in a 2012 F150, and one in a 2016 F350, they both have power for days, but the half ton is pushing 50,000 miles, and starting to show a bottom end knock, the one ton is still without issues, but it hasn't hit 10,000 miles yet.
this is truck rice if I ever saw it its a 6 cyl ranger if it was an f 250 or 350 diesel it would be OK not on a mini truck a minitruck should be one of three things imo stock, mild lift+good size tires, or lowered(if done right it can look good)
Me and a friend built this 94 Ford about two years ago, played with it for a while, and then sold it, now it's popped up again, anyone want it? It's got an EFI 460, a ZF5, an ancient SCS transfer case that I think came from an old super mod pulling truck, 2 1/2 ton Rockwells that came from a burnt out M35 we found in the junkyard, and full hydraulic steering.
