Just picked up this LX250H on Craigslist. It works well, but it sounds distorted even to my untrained ear. Hoping it just needs a new stylus.
Very nice. I've got a Garrard Model 1211 myself. I threw an Audio-Technica needle on it and it sounds pretty good. Found it on the bottom shelf at a thrift store for $5. Poor thing had an Onkyo receiver sitting on top of it.
Man, I always hear about people getting awesome stuff for crazy good prices. Don't know how you do it lol. The best deal I ever saw was a Dual with a no-longer-automatic arm for $80 (which I bought), and I worked at a Salvation Army. This one was $90 (they were asking $115) and the only one I've ever seen for sale locally.
Moving to the country! Except, it has DSL. For someone who plays online games and downloads content excessively (but I don't stream stuff ), that's a huge downgrade from my current 150/50Mbs plan. Yay. What ping should I expect?
What sort of "country" is it. I live in the Adelaide hills and on satellite the best ping ive ever had was around 550ms, 650-750ms before the NBN kicked in.
On ADSL2+ in Australia, I get anywhere between 6-18mbps download (14 average), 0.8mbps upload (rubbish i know) and about 20ms ping on a good day. I'd say it's good enough but I do get pretty mad when playing certain games and my shots don't hit properly, Black Ops II I'm looking at you, but Black Ops II has rubbish multiplayer infrastructure, no dedicated servers and awful P2P hosting.
My neighbour is really smart, on the first heatwave of 42+ degrees he takes the eaves off his house, second heat wave he paints his roof black, and yesterday after 3 record setting heat days he takes out his biggest tree next to his house. Meanwhile my house has so many trees it actually was somewhat bearable in the heat. Morons. Oh and also Australia has taken all the 15 heat spots in the world heat charts a few days ago (i think). Yet climate change is a myth. So yes, people taking out perfectly good trees for "asthetics" or "tidying" really annoys me. Australia life: yeah I kinda went off topic slightly, oh well
I don't like it when any tree that is capable of supporting our planet's biosphere, is cut down for reasons that can't be justified.
I get worse ping than that on cable, so a 20ms DSL will actually be an upgrade! If I stockpile my downloads (1Tb drive ), I should be fine download-wise. UPDATE - Looking into it, we MIGHT be able to get Comcast out there. In the process of confirming
I hate it when people drive like complete morons on the road. I get very annoyed when I'm driving the Crown Vic somewhere, and some idiot comes along and does something stupid that puts both of us, if not other motorists, at risk for an accident.
I'd love to know who the hell thought that was a good idea? They must be asking for trouble. At least I have common sense to keep my attention on the road and not my phone.
