I know. I'm not good at that kind of stuff, plus it was my 1st build. My next one will bever MITX, and have better cable management (because fully modular).
Not at all bull. 256gb, non formatted. Your mbr, partition map and most importantly the file system table take large amounts of space and reduce usable space
The drive capacity on the label is measured in MB. That reading you have there is most likely measured in MiB. Then some of it is used by the formatting.
Once in a time kilobyte was 1024 bytes, then came advertising and they started rounding up it to nice and easy 1000 because it is easy to count, these days I have no idea, I just get bigger if current is not enough.
This computer just suddenly decides to start obeying and downloading updates, just as I am copying the WSUS files to it...
So I bought a laptop. It has Windows Vista. It needs a bottom cover and a heat sink. It is an Acer TravelMate 5530. I can honestly say I bought it for 10 bucks just to see what all the fuss about Windows Vista was.
I guess so, but I just thought about the price, although not being much, was kind of a pointless spend since he could've just used a vm. But I didn't think of the hardware.
You can always put Linux on laptop, add a webcam and Motion, there you have valuable surveillance system that has plenty of storage, battery backup and via wifi it can upload videos and images to internet. Compare cost to something that has same features that you can buy from shop, I'm not even sure you can buy something with that much features, it probably would need to be custom made? People just don't realize what value old laptops can be.
Can't wait until the MSI RX 460 2Gb gets the shader unlock I bricked my last one doing that, luckily Amazon replaced it for free.
