At my Uni I have never hit a web block ever, I am sure its there to block "certain types of content" but for anything else its all good. The Computer Science computers are all under a single account with a single password, meaning that every student has full admin access over each PC, they are all ghosted once a month. If you need to install software, that's absolutely fine, if you need to install some drivers that is fine too. Chrome, Firefox, IE and Edge are all installed on all computers, all browsers default to incognito/private mode to prevent browsing history/passwords being left behind. Windows 10 and Ubuntu are also dual booted on all machines. The flip side is that you never leave anything important stored on the computers, since they are not backed up, so if they get wiped your files are gone for good. Equally you never leave coursework on the computers to ensure that no one else can plagiarise it. Generally I store my work on OneDrive since that's what the Uni gives us. The Comp Sci labs are 24/7 access for all students who sign an out of hours working policy, meaning if you need to do some work on the lab computers at 2am you can do that since they have security staff patrolling the building ,keycard entry and CCTV. Apparently the robotics department occasionally puts one of their robots to work patrolling too. If you need some extra equipment then just ask (within working hours) and they will let you borrow it, they also have HTC Vives permanently set up in some rooms for people to develop for. If someone breaks a computers software it gets ghosted overnight. If someone does a bad thing they just look at the CCTV to see who was sat at the computer it happened on. All in all its a pretty nice system. --- Post updated --- On the topic of Uni, I think this guy nailed it in terms of the students union elections xD To provide context, there was a vote to leave the National Union of Students. The students voted to leave, so the students union decided to hold another vote on it... This time we obviously chose what the students union considered to be the correct answer. And why in the world are these mandatory questions when voting on students union representatives? I am sure the students union does some good stuff, however they don't make it clear what they have done or who asked for it. Equally it seems to be mostly self serving. Thankfully the university itself does a fairly good job of representing the students.
Those are some weird questions. If someone came up and asked me those I would be like "what's this crap?"
In Lab A (older machines) [approx 70 machines]: Intel I7's (not sure which) GTX 750ti's 16GB RAM 24" 1080p IPS monitors In Lab B (informally "Games lab") [approx 50 machines]: Intel I7's (newer than lab A's) GTX 970's 16GB RAM 256GB Samsung SSD's (might be 512GB, can't remember) InWin cases 27" 1440p IPS monitors In Lab C (Mainly for masters students) [approx 20 excl. macs]: No idea, but as far as I know they are better than Lab B's 6ish Apple Macs (never seen them get used) All other departments + Library: Virtual machines running windows 7. Each user has a separate account, when you log in it boots up your VM and sends it to your own dumb client. They are good enough for what most students need to do and run at a decent resolution. But since I am in the school of Computer Science I always go to the dedicated labs. The other weird thing is that they ask personality related questions as well, however considering you have to sign in with your university account I have no idea how anonymous they are, or the votes for that matter.
Never mind, @aljowen. I feel like the guy who always asks millions of questions. If there was a delete button, I would've used it on this post.
Fast enough? I might have tested it before but I can't remember. Either way I am not planning on walking there to find out right now xD (even if it is only a 12 min walk [albeit 10 stories of stairs either direction])
You're being a moron. If it's already here, there's no reason to try to end the discussion and force it somewhere else.
Community screenshots? Also, @Funky7Monkey everyone has their moron moments of course. Especially me.
Offtopic: Yesterday took this baby out of the post. I cannot wait until sunday to plop this into my machine and play .Drive.
Well I bit the bullet and made an offer and got it for £34 not to bad, if it doesn't work I'll probably buy a 'scope from 6677's company.
Last Wednesday I went to this indoor playplace and enjoyed the playground!! I am 25 years old. The slides were nice and fast. Yes adults are allowed to play on the playground.
What the hell, the firealarm just went off and I was wearing my HyperX Cloud IIs, and I'm sure I wouldn't have heard it if they were at full volume... It was just a feint beeping sound in the distance.
One time I ate a cake and found a small nail on it that I was trying to break after I think it was a stone
