Last week I was watching the Bristish show "Wheeler Dealers" and my sister was over and sitting in the next room talking to her kids. I forget what the circumstances were, but the phrase "There's a 1949 Jaguar in this garage" was spoken, however it was said in a dialect from Great Britain, and was pronounced, "There's a 1949 Jag-you-are in this garriage" And my sister found it hysterical. Any accent you're unfamiliar with, you'll likely find incorrect, odd or funny.
It is a nice device. Because you take lots of photos indoors, assuming it's a dark environment, you could always use the fixed focus mode but as you said it's hard to take pictures quickly with that. Also seems that my camera lens has become rather scratched - even with a case which doesn't allow it to touch surfaces. It doesn't affect image quality, so I guess it doesn't matter. It's way better than my old Moto G3, as that one had a really weird issue where the battery would DRAIN and it would get really hot if I put it inside my coat pocket. That had a pretty nice camera - infact the same sensor from the Nexus 6 but the focus was slowwwww.
Well yeah, that's how you are supposed to pronounce it, being a British (one upon a time) brand of car xD But yeah, the pronunciation of the animal Jaguar is different in the US and as such people call the car brand that as well. Which is fine, just makes me cringe a little when hearing it said that way
Why are you always so practical? Programmers man. I personally feel like if you don't want to wear earplugs there are certain places you don't belong. Front row at a buckethead concert. Monster truck rallies. Shooting ranges. I have sensitive hearing myself but I Protect it. At the range I had both plugs and muffs in because the guy next to me had a desert eagle and he didn't get the nice sensible one chambered in 9mm, he was throwing half inch slugs like it was going out of style. Absurd overpreassure on that gun and I sucked it up because I was somewhere loud noises are accepted by the majority. NASCAR love it or hate it, is a bastion for hi reving v8s. Save the noise.
Dubbing shows and films is one of the most stupid things I know, once I got chance to watch german version of Terminator 2, that was just plain horrible, I wonder if they dub that in France too? I take text over dub anytime, especially in stuff coming from Asia, there are flicks completely ruined by such localization, in some they even have tampered with a plot. For example, Power Rangers US version is quite crap, there is not much of any good in it, but original one actually did have a plot that even did made some sense, but US version cut that out as it did cut out pretty much of the stuff and added poor voice acting etc. So many think it is worst show ever, sure it is not a good show, but there are worse than original Power Rangers. Of course original show was Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger (from wiki, I can't spell that), so maybe it is right to call Power Rangers worst thing ever, Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger is different though as once I watched first season of the original and it did actually made some sense at places Dubbing poorly is worst with kids shows, they make a lot of shortcuts with those and really destroy many not so bad works by changing plots and cutting stuff out, thinking it is too complex for western kids or something. However those kung-fu movies did have their share of this horror. --- Post updated --- Many race tracks in Europe have shut down or have limited operation because people move in or build their summer cottages near race tracks, then start complaining that they can hear engines on they yard if they try really hard, municipalities place limits and bans because of legislation is such, so there are noise limits, there are limits on days track can operate etc. Noise regulations in Europe is going to be stricter as noise is classified as an pollution same way exhaust is form of pollution and they tighten the limits and add more activities under regulation all the time. US might be different, but I think that this side of aspect is in play of why to bring noise levels down.
Personally I think people should wear ear plugs, but America is the land of the lawsuit... As for why programmers are so practical, partially because people are absolute morons, mostly because it makes life so much easier if you do things in a practical and pragmatic way, prevents headaches down the line. Its probably also worth mention that a lot of the time being a programmer isn't necessarily about programming, its about solving problems. Approaching everything with some semblance of logic usually helps with that. Partially because it will make the programming easier and partially because the end product will likely be better as a consequence. Not to say that passion isn't useful. Cause it absolutely is for making games. Probably is for making data base management systems too, however I struggle to find as much excitement in that as other software.
Yeah, you can run only so many times emotion ahead to brick wall, but approaching problem with logic is certainly working in the long run. Some people never goes past that brick wall stage though. It is like Data and Kirk are so different, but both had their purpose, which means different is better than same as same would be boring, we need practical and we need them loonies like Kirk
Exactly, without people doing stupid crap ignoring all logic on fail army my life would be no where near as satisfying xD But in all seriousness, trying to use logic is great for some purposes, using emotion is great for others. However I would also like to point out that after banging my head against an OpenGL shaped brick wall for several hours logic will likely be the last thing on my mind. Hopefully with time and more experience of using OpenGL that will start to improve though, once I start to more fully understand and appreciate why things are as they are.
I Thought it was only 5-6 in on The East coast, and on Tuesday, Well Rip Everything I have on Monday.
It's logic might not fit to your logic, point being, sometimes there is so different logic it surely should classify illogical Not sure if you are familiar with Unity, but that has some weird logic at times.
I am familiar with Unity, I 100% agree, sometimes it can be a bit weird. But for the most part it makes sense. OpenGL on the other hand... Debugging that nightmare is hard. Often it will throw nondescript errors and rarely the point it crashes at is what caused the crash, it will be something in the previous lines of code (and not just the ones near by), even if they didn't throw any errors or any error catching that I implemented. You can't really step through it either, since its happening on the GPU, not the CPU, however there are tools like API trace that help a little. I'm starting to get my head around it, but it is more than a little tricky to work with at times. It makes anything I did prior to it feel like a walk in the park Thankfully being a student there are people to help me out with it and I have yet to meet anyone on my course at any level of education who finds it easy. But at the end of the day the more experience you have the less issues you face, so the only way to get better is to keep working on it until I do fully understand its logic.
just in case if you thought I made up the minivan assembly plant vhs cover... I still can't believe this actually exists.
