well, i got unbanned yesterday. and it seems like i missed a lot! i hit 800 hours on beam while i was gone, and had a lot of fun reaching it. im shooting for 1000 hours i got a bit dissapointed when i looked at the dev blogs however, not many updates anyhow, im glad to be back and i think i learned my lesson. i think
I don't know how else to phrase it, other than to wonder what CommonCat's major malfunction is. This forum is amazing.
Psst. I cheated Jbeaming the Cessna L-19 I've been developing this thing over the course of the project The output jbeam is 400 lines longer than the source file.
I found out that if I'm having 220fps in gridmap and turn in-game fps counter off, one CPU core load decreases by 20% (from 90% to 70%), two other core's load increases 10% each and at least one of those is running physics (from 30% to 40%). One that's load decreases is running graphical stuff. With Afterburner same happens when turning off afterburner, but change is bigger. With Fraps, change is about same as with in-game fps counter Of course that does not mean anything really, but just interesting how heavy fps counter gets with higher framerate. I also made sure to not hit GPU limits during testing.
I can't really find anywhere else to put this, so: someone (not me, at least not yet) needs to mod a 1984-1993 Dodge Daytona into BeamNG drive. It came in many variants and had many facelifts over the years, but the real show would be the customization options. First, Mopar apparently made a kit to turn it into a V8/RWD muscle car. I seem to recall the engine the kit was intended for use for was the 360 V8, which is from the LA series of engines, which means that, theoretically, depending on how engine mounting schemes changed over the years, any other LA or LA-derived engine should work as well, potentially including a Viper V10 if it will physically fit in that car. There is also a possibility that it could work with LA successors and other engines that shared applications with LAs, including the 4.7L (lame I know) and, more interestingly, the modern Hemi. However, there are other possibilities that might not require that kit - an SRT4 swap is the obvious one, but considering that it came from the factory with a Mitsubishi 3L V6 at one point and apparently had some baked-in provisions for sending power rearwards, it might???? be possible to stuff the running gear from a 3000GT VR-4 into one. There was even a prototype that had AWD and a Lamborghini Jalpa V8. A mod that replicated all of these things, with good deformation and performance/visual tuning variety, would be the stuff of utter legends.
Today, my car got a fresh new clutch. And holy mother of clutches, it feels different. In a good way.
I spent the last week and a half building a file format. Something like a combination of FBX/DAE, but with a few added features. It's based off of RIFF (Resource interchange file format), so it can be semi viewed in Riffpad or other apps. My reason for this is : I wanted something simple, yet powerful. If you open an FBX/DAE file with a text editor, it's a giant confusion, and being text, it will load slower in an application. Still thinking of adding physics stuff to that list as well (cloths, hinges, etc) among other things. So far I have a Blender exporter and Unity importer.
After several hours of micro optimizations, I just loaded 100,000 triangles, 13 materials, 13 textures (1x 1024x1024, rest are 512x512) split upon 212 objects into Unity in 1.75 seconds I'm actually surprised I got this amount of performance. (oh, thought it'd merge my post)
Well let's go through the day, shall we? This morning I woke up at your mums house I went to school In my CAD class I yelled at people from across the room In French class somebody dropped their weed and got suspended lol In art I made plaster masks and I did not enjoy it In English people played the game, "do wack stuff in class and don't let the teacher notice" At lunch I ate a quesadilla with taco meat (it tastes like a taco) In math I took a test and watched car videos on YouTube In physics I worked on a presentation Now I'm on the road to Chicago with some friends for a sailing regatta and passing the chooch around the car Fun day!
There's no such thing as the "friendzone" you want a relationship whereas she wants a platonic friendship. I too was also young and naive, and though I was in the friendzone, no they just simply aren't interested in a relationship with you for whatever reason. If you're looking at it like that, then I suggest ghosting her and don't pursue friendship with her. If you can't turn your feelings off for her, then let go.
After 3 years and 2 months, finally someone gives me a sort of solution to my friendzone problem! So thanks for that man! (Also on that same note, the best idea is to ghost her. she is a f-wording mess that rejects everything. im not alone in her friendzone either) --- Post updated --- 220? I can barely get 60
*yawn*, lots of coding D: https://github.com/Dummiesman/SceneFileExporter/commit/6e23235bfcdb2fdc9ef7f0fddf2a76afb303fdbf
Spent almost two hours yesterday getting PCSX2 working with save states and stuff and it kinda works now. Also noticed that Steam decided to no longer accept inputs from the right analog stick of my Xbox One controller, that's annoying as hell
on wedensday me and my dad replaced the alternator on the expedition, as at some point in the last few weeks it decided it was done with this shit, and stopped working luckily on the 5.4L triton engine it's right up top and fairly easily accessible, really the only thing hard about it was getting the belt off, as the breaker bar kept popping out of the belt tensioner whenever we started moving it
Finally got to making a viewer for "DMLabs Intermediate Scene Format". That's what I call my custom scene format I created, that stores lights, cameras, meshes, textures,. sound sources, modifiers, among other things. I already have a nearly complete Unity plugin for it, that allows runtime *.scn loading, and a Blender exporter. So much coding
Spent all morning making a bunch more progress on the viewer Can't wait to use this tech in some sort of game (or have someone else start using it) (ah crap, thought this would put the little "---Updated--" on my last post)
