A thing that bothers me

Greetings,

As you a probably know by now, the update speculation thread has been closed because of shitposting. I want to say thank you for it.... No serious now. I can't understand what is wrong with this community. Everyone thinks that they are the boss and that they can allow themselves everything they want. I don't want to point at anyone or be rude in anyway but I think this community is slowly going more and more downhill.

When I joined here back in 2013/14 this place was a fun place to be at. I don't quite understand why this is happening but there has to be a way to fix it. It's not as fun to be here as it was a few years ago..

I am just annoyed about this community in general. There has been so much stuff going on in the last few month where I can just facepalm and question myself how this works.. Or lets ask you.. You think this community is good as it is?

 

i dont. and honestly i dont think i can talk much about it as i feel like im a part of the problem. its just that everyone is making threads about the same issue, and its starting to get old...

 

It's such a shame that tdev had to resort to locking the Update Speculation Thread. It would be nice if some of those users would slow down a bit and stop behaving like that. According to what Synsol said when the General Discussion Thread got closed not too long ago, these behaviors from some users take away focus from their work on the updates. So it sounds like to me that these actions may have delayed the update a bit.

I do hope that the Update Speculation Thread does come back at some point. I really like talking to other users about update-related stuff there.

 

GD got closed too? all of these good threads getting closed. i mean, i never posted much on general, but it was fun to lurk

 

We need stronger rules against spam/useless/non-constructive posts, and a moderation team that spans several time zones.

If we're complaining about the useless posts, why aren't they being taken care of?

That's exactly what I've been thinking.

 

If I remember, it was a few months ago.

And to stay on topic, I haven't been here since 2013 but even I've noticed a change in how this site acts nowadays. We're getting more "child-like" people, if you will. I mean shoot, even some of the members that joined back in 2014/2015 have gotten to the point the new users are at. Like in the "Volksfagen" thread, I believe a few members who have been here a while started talking about rude/crude things about homosexuals when they know it's not on topic and offensive (this happened last year). There's not much the moderators can do about these people except lay down the ban hammer. There's pretty much nothing that can be done. But that's just my 2 cents.

 

honestly, even since ive been here ive seen the general IQ drop quite a bit. i think we need more moderators. maybe some active fourm members! the devs cant moderate and make the game at the same time. its too much to ask.

 

I don't like talking about how bad some of the more recent users are, as I consider myself to be one of them... But not as bad of course.

The average age on here has dropped for sure over the past few years. I talked with some of the newer users through the messaging system (I'm not naming anyone), and I can say that some aren't out of elementary/middle school for crying out loud! Probably one of the many factors in this situation we've been in for the past year or two.

 

i too consider myself as part of the problem (correct me if im wrong) but i dont really see you as one of the problem members. i guess this is just something we have to deal with! as the game gets more time in the limelight more members are gonna join. nothing you can do about it

 

God, reading some of these posts makes my IQ drop. I completely agree with you though. There are plenty of good active forum members that are responsible enough to moderate imo.

 

The team should add a few more people to the moderator group. It would definitely help keeping this forum clean.. Well as clean as it could get at least

 

There seems to be a lot more ignorance and immaturity these days. Although I don't post a lot, I enjoy seeing what is going on. The forums were much more respectful in the past.

 

good to see a lurker coming out of the shadows when it comes to issues like these all we can do is try better ourselfs... im gonna start trying to make more constructive/non disruptive posts from now on and if we all work together, maybe we can restore this fourm to its old glory

 

As most of you probably know, I've only just started posting regularly here within the past month. But I've been keeping an eye on the forums since I joined. Yes, it is a noticable change over the past few years, but personally it's only just got to a point someone has had to point it out.

I originally came from 2 forums, GTAForums and a small community (VStanced). I came here for the maturity of the community, there were always people giving suggestions to modders on how they could improve and everyone helped others. Now it's full of criticism and no explanation why.

I've seen plenty of mods where people have left 1 star ratings (on good mods too) and leaving one or two words (eg. Try again, Cringe) and don't explain why. How can the modding community fix something when they don't know the problem themselves.

GTAForums were pretty much how this is now. It still has its very talented mod creators, but they're contantly being pushed around by (lets face it) 12 year olds crying about how it should be released now. Forums filled with hateful comments and rude language.

Every forum should have their critism, yeah. Thats what makes the forums fun. VStanced has it perfect with both Admins and the community having banter in the chat and helping eachother with mods and the like.

Some newcomers need to shape up and get their act together (me included) and stop acting like children. We're here for the banter and the mods, not sh*tposting in multiple threads and accusing others for when they get shut down.

This is what I think of the community as of this moment, please don't let it reduce down to how GTAForums is now.

 

I tried so hard to stop the shitposting. I bet it will be reopened after 0.9, so the devs can work without the spam.

 

Why don't they just delete the shitposting instead of closing it? It recovered and it was doing perfectly fine after the shitposting.

Not to be an ass but it doesn't take more than 5 minutes to delete that stuff. I'm afraid i'm going to start a bashing war after saying this .

 

That's too much time spent on one thread in a day when there's much more to be moderated.

I'm glad it's gone. That thread was so ridiculously cancer (by the majority of posts), caused so much bullshit/banter/pointless drama in the community, and likely scared off many new people from participating in the forum. (that last one's a theory)
