Paint Scratching

    First off, I know by the name of the thread that you all think that I mean that I want to scratch the cars, but that is not it. What I think would be cool is (sometimes) when two cars collide, their paint colors scratch off on each other. I think this would be very cool, (and challenging), but I think it could be done. Look at the photo below just to know what I mean.

    I agree, adding texture damage will up the realism quite a bit. Most other racing games seem to have incorporated some for of it to add more detail to the damage model (more than can be done with mesh alone)

    Use the search bar, this has been suggested many times, but due to game engine limitations is very difficult to do because without going into detail you would need 2 shells of the vehicle, which would kill fps.

    You mean, suggested once before, not even suggesting what I am saying? Because yes, I saw that. I appreciate you telling me to do something I already did. I searched the web in google, and the BeamNG search engine, which, by the way isn't very useful.

    Oh, yeah that does seem to work better, thanks for the advice. No wonder I got no results when I looked up the topic. I think the sites search bar only uses keywords.

    Search bar searches only from titles by default, you need to untick "searh titles only" option for search bar to function like what you probably are more used to.

    Update: Oh yes and some texture damage of course would be nice and I think such might come in a future.

    why would you need 2 meshes for a texture replacement feature? That's not necessary or desirable. using 'decals' (layered textures) would provide decent damage effect without needing another mesh. eg Assetto Corsa uses a damage texture with the alpha channel for scratching masks, which is applied as required. Games did damage with texture before 3d deformation was possible.

    I realise it will be a hard feature to implement, but the basics are all there.
