Ah the beauty of nature, I tried to encapsulate the thick forests with the common sandstone poking through (WIP on the sandstone) The forests are much thinner, than I had originally planned. With full forests on 40~50% of the map done up, it needed 10~12gb of RAM to load. Thanks for the shout-outs here for my Tennessee map, many a night when I should have already been asleep after 0.9 update going "WHY WONT THIS WORK?", "What's wrong here NOW???", AND "where the (BEEP) did ALL my bridge pillars go???" (I mean I was in process of replacing the pillars anyways so I guess that works... but yeah). The ROANE COUNTY map (in map mods section folks, v 0.71), is a love-letter to this game and it's most avid fans, that "Yes, a huge, monstrous map can still be fun and mostly still look just as good as it is fun". Sure, it's not 100% perfect, but it goes to show just what you can do when you take all the limits, throw them out the window and say "NO NO NO, THIS IS WHAT YOU PUT IN YOUR GAME! WE WANT *THIS*!". I myself can't wait for West Coast USA and Italy, and no, not just to steal models from it (well maybe a couple houses). I wanted to show everyone this map could really WORK, not look hideous, not just be the new Apple iSore of low-res terrain syndrome. It was originally just to be an unreleased, private proof-of-concept but once I got the terrain mostly colored, and some roads set up, people wanted it, so it became THIS "ROANE COUNTY" map blah-de-blah-de-blah. Plenty of opportunities for speed await on the 163 miles of roadway. Work will continue. The kind developers said they will try not to kill my map again, provided I don't gum anything up on this end :x Give some credits to @synsol, @meywue, and @Nadeox1 as they deserve it, they were all very helpful in helping keep me and this map project on track here. If anyone has models to donate (houses, sidewalks, buildings, telephone poles, etc), to the project, feel free to PM me. I am sorry to derail this thread a bit with a book (when don't I), but I tried to keep it relevant with some pictures. Stop by and see us in the MODS sections and look for ROANE COUNTY Tennessee map v0.71 if you've got a PC with at-least 8gb of ram (5.25gb~6gb free) running 64-bit Beamng.drive, and tell us what you think! Samuel Rayburn Memorial Bridge (US 40) over the Emory River (IIRC I think that's what the river's called), Kingston TN in the distance. Project page link where you can get your own copy of the map, below. Don't forget to review when you're done playing. https://www.beamng.com/resources/te...y-beta-real-terrain-8gb-system-ram-reqd.1586/ Thanks to all that have helped this project, from model donations, video coverage, and endless voluntary guinea pigs to test it on And worry not, even if my 'puter "ESPLODES" (yes I watch the Lucy Show, yes that's where it's from), I have a stack of spares and lots of backups, work shall continue. And for any of you mappers out there, with 0.9 there was a critical change. You CAN NOT have a texture labeled the same thing as a forest brush item. If you have the texture TRAFFICLIGHT and a forest brush item named TRAFFICLIGHT, the forest item will over-write the texture, the model will show up without a texture, but otherwise, you won't know what it means when it says 'it can't redeclare a name' and then it says it 'can't find material for texture' blah blah. Worked fine in 0.8 but with the new unified system it does not, not a bug just a peculiarity. --Cheers. P.S. I have never had the honor of working so closely with a bunch of great game developers as the one's I have mentioned above. Thanks!
Meet the Ibishu Hopper "True Classic". This is designed to look like what Americans were able to purchase back in the 70s, but it still has modern things like ABS and Shift-On-The-Fly Locking Differentials.
So this Hopper's engine runs perfectly fine... But on this one the engine has no chance of ever starting again! *logic*
