Oh noes. Well in other news I got bored the other day and decided to press Wikipedia's infamous "Random Article" button and see what happens. The first article I got was about internet in Finland. Apparently it's a legal right to have at least 1 megabit internet over there.
Everything is going to be just fine. When things seem like they are out of control, just remind yourself about the first axiom of integrated information theory. I'm having a subjective experience that is intrinsically real to me, and this experience is unique in that there can only be one of them. Gets me thru my day. Max Tegmark for President!
Was riding my bike today. I think I went over a bump too fast and fell forward and landed flat on my face. Hurt like hell. Good thing I was wearing my helmet. My wrists are still a little sore, and I got a scrape on my leg, but otherwise I'm OK.
The last time I went over my handlebars like that, I hit the center of the handlebars in the worst place possible. It hurt to run for 1-2 weeks after, which was not fun for 8-year old me.
Never heard of it. I was referencing a theory about information integration. Not an indie game unfortunately.
ouch had something like that happen to me last summer tore up my palms and arms hurt like hell for a week
To be honest I am surprised I haven't came off my current folding bike. Between the handle bars and seat collapsing occasionally and the whole 20" wheels thing its kinda impressive. Been slowly fixing its issues but it seems like the never ending job, there is now string holding the handlebar release mechanism in place to prevent it from collapsing/folding down while riding, the front lights are powered by a poundland battery bank which has surpassed all my expectations for continuing to work in the rain. One of the pedals has now come loose. The rear wheel isn't on straight and won't come off so that I can straighten it, I bent the bolt trying to undo it, gonna have to invest in some penetrating oil. The brakes have been replaced so that the bike stops. Everyone hears me coming before they see me because of the squeaks and creaking. The handlebars wobble about 2cm left and right. The bike frame twists slightly while riding it. There's no suspension making it less than ideal for off road use. The small wheels means that you hit bumps rather going over them. The seat angle changes if you hit a large bump, can't do it up any tighter than it already is. It clicks while you cycle, since the rear gearing and rear wheel are not properly aligned. The bike does not run smoothly, it does not free wheel far if you stop pedalling. Its the most endearing pile of shite I have ever cycled on, but it just keeps going and going and going. Its not uncommon for me to go over 20km on it (12 miles) including off road through forests. And while folding bikes have some pretty big issues its not all bad. The small wheels are much lighter than big ones, so act less like a flywheel, bad for long distance, you feel every bump through your legs, but when you want to put the power down it goes. Equally the small light wheels mean that the steering is super super light, this bike turns and quick. Although to be honest, it doesn't have an easy life xD (Dat youtube bit rate though) And to finish off, the bike in its natural habitat And I know that isn't that fast, but you try going faster on this thing one handed, I was in the highest gear pedalling as fast as I could... Plus compare the size of the wheels to the speed of travel and it will seem quicker. If only I had hills nearby that I could cycle on. Part of me really wants to take this bike to the forests around keswick and go on the proper mountain bike routes for a laugh. On a normal bike they aren't a problem, Im not sure this bike would make it to the bottom never mind me xD
Because I've done a lot of add-on selling at work, Boss Man bought me access to a local arcade that has an indoor go-kart track. Of freakin' course I went on it. Only went for one race because I was saving some money for other things, which I regretted deeply and immediately; that was more fun than any video game and probably more fun than I've ever had on a backroad too. Finally, I had a cop- and traffic-free arena in which to practice all the techniques I've picked up from racing games and books over the years. For some strange lucky reason they started me in front, and I never got passed once, but when it was over someone had beat my best lap by over a second (my best was about a 32.6, his a 31.4). He must have started near the back and been charging like a madman to catch up. I know there's more time in my run, but to have got so high on the first attempt (likely to faster guy has been there a while) certainly feels like a validation of my deliberate focus on smoothness, lines, and using all the track (often I was scraping the inside or outside barriers - or both - on some corners)). The funny part is, after the race, no one seemed to know who the faster guy was, or was willing to admit to being him. In any case, I now have a target to chase.
Its quite funny watching all of the uk political parties scrambling to try and get a campaign, something, anything, in place in time for the elections in just over 6 weeks time. For those who haven't been following, this week the Prime Minister (equivalent to president) called for there to be an early election (the next one was supposed to be in 2020) to happen in 7 weeks time from the announcement. This is happening because the current leader wants to try and gain more seats to make it easier to push policies etc, traditionally their opposition would have been the labour party, but that has been flailing around almost dead on the floor for the past year, hence there is no current major opposition, hence the early election to take advantage of that. UK politics is currently a mess, but it sure is interesting to watch
I found a microwavable shepard's pie. My life is complete. Unfortunately, it's not the best, however a gallon of Worcestershire sauce fixed it.
Anyone in the UK have broadband connection? My Internet is out and the online issue trackers are coating very large amounts of the UK in red for Internet issues.
I have managed to get onto the university wifi now and that seems to be working Seems that stuff is happening though I am with Ask4 and don't have any connection atm
