Brake shoes and transmission were wore out...

    AND NOW: A new motor...
1776cc VW Type 1 "beetle" motor. Mild cam, slightly more cc's than stock, all new internals. short block finished.

I put the summer tires on the Cruiser. The road salt plus aluminum wheels on a steel mounting surface made it a pain in the butt to get the winter tires off. Speaking of salt, the reason I'm driving the Cruiser is because the front left caliper on my pickup is sticking because it's so corroded. I hate that crap. It probably doesn't help that I drive a manual diesel and therefore rarely use my brakes but the salt certainly didn't help. I also went for a quick trip down a local Forest Service road. I of course had to take a flex shot, it's a requirement for any 4x4 owner.

Nice, that's the best thing about the old Porsche/vdub engine cases over a block, The ability to increase bore without machine work.
I'm guessing that was supposed to be a 1600?

Bought a ton of parts yesterday. Near perfect front bumper and lip, perfect rear bumper trim (Rare for a wagon since they all warp), a 5 year old non leaky gas tank, etc. Today I finished the electric fan swap and since I don't have the correct fan switch/sensor I just wired it to a relay switched by ignition and a switch in the interior to turn on manually.

I also fixed the AC electrics, but I think there's a leak somewhere.

Yesterday and today with the help of my dad we finally got a bit more done on my soon to be raced Hyundai Excel.
We removed the sound deadening with the help of dry ice, hair dryer and a chisel. Then cleaned most surfaces to paint with some parts washer liquid, diesel and some scotch brite pads. Worked nicely but some is still needed to be cleaned. We also made rear the trims out of corflute to tidy the inside up a bit.

Where the white paint is, is where sound deadening was removed, there was a lot.

This was the sound deadening stuff, was a bitch to get off but it should save about 30-35kgs all up so it worth it. IMGP6391jpeg.jpg IMGP6392jpeg.jpg IMGP6393jpeg.jpg
Still need to buy some semi slicks, would like to get some Nankangs NS-2R's but they are $110 a tyre in the size i need of 195/50/15, compared to some jinyu semi slicks which are about $75 a tyre. Considering the car will only be used on track and dry weather they should be almost as good anyways. Also need to set up a harness and race seat and it should almost be ready to race.

Damn, $100 a tire is only a dream to me, try more like $250-$300 a piece for some big tars.

So I made a decision about the old white Blazer, it's small block of mystery is coming out, and getting rebuilt with some peppy parts, some of which I can get from a friend, like a Holley 850 Double Pumper, an Edelbrock Victor Jr. Intake, and some long tube truck headers. So I'll have to buy the rebuild kit, (Main caps, rod bearings, rings, etc.) the cam, (Unsure as to what I'll go with yet) and a set of new higher compression pistons.

I've already nailed down a 4 inch lift for it, I've got a friend who is running this exact lift and loves it.

Then the only expensive thing remaining would be tires, because the little 31's will look a bit wimpy.

    As she sits.

I will get a Saab T fitting and fan switch but for now I turn it on manually. The one you can see is a one speed that turns on at like 220f for the little electric fan that later 240s have up front in case it overheats. Running LH 2.2 Volvo 780 ECU, which I don't think is chippable. Also Chrysler ignition box.

Well, I finally got around to changing the engine mounts, flywheel and clutch. 740€ in total for the parts, and about 6-7 hours of work.

The only sound heard throughout the entire facility was me constantly swearing, that gearbox is heavy.
And I kept hitting my head on the driveshaft that I didn't secure or tie to something, because Roadkill.

Next up, brakes. The discs are fine, surprisingly enough, so a new set of pads and a fluid change will do the trick. Hopefully.

Just priced tires for the Blazer, and I'm definitely going to be looking for used tires.

Four new 35x12.50R15 C range Intero Boggers would be $1400 before shipping. Considering the engine work, lift, and paint would all come to around $1200, that makes $1400 for tires all the more un-doable.

When captive bolts come loose, it's time to make an incision. Like surgery, except without the messy cleanup or the malpractice lawsuits.

    The Eunos badge?

Replaced the cabin air filter on the Range Rover, I'm pretty sure it hasn't been touched since 2011.
Also bought a new air filter for the Golf, gonna replace it later this week.

That loos like the Mazda Eunos badge, although I doubt that's what's wrong with it.

    Edit: Image URL's don't work...
