As the game is, I know there are two parts to creating a vehicle; a folder, and a main jbeam. Where the main jbeam ("slotType" : "main") is the only main jbeam in the single folder.

My question is, if you were to add another "main" jbeam to an existing vehicle folder, would it be possible to create another "vehicle" from within the same folder as the other vehicle?

Like, if I made a mod that rebranded the Pessima, but used all of the original parts, could I make that rebranded Pessima have a separate section in the vehicle selector, while still using the original's folder?

I've done so before, it does nothing. That's why I'm asking. Maybe there is a way that I just don't know about.

If there isn't a way for multiple vehicles to share the same folder, is there at least a better way of sharing assets between them that isn't just copying the entire folder over?

    Use the common folder.

That would only work if the source vehicle was in the common folder, but it isn't. And copying it there would be the same as copying it to a different folder.

Then how do the D-Series and the Roamer share the very same parts? Try investigating those two.

Like, another vehicle that uses parts (jbeam/meshes) from another vehicle. Like how the roamer uses parts from the pickup.

But its based on the midsize, and the midsize isn't in the "common" folder. The pickup is, which is how it can share parts with other cars.

Then I think there's no other way then to copy and paste the parts.

There currently is not a better way. I'm glad that you're asking about it, it's something I've also wanted. What you are asking for is not unfeasible, just unavailable.
