Short wheelbase and high center of gravity is a disaster awaiting. Why is it that I do sharp turn like this I just end up skidding and understeering. Heck, even the Jeep has a lower center of gravity and a longer wheelbase. Could anyone try to atleast get the Hopper off two wheels without any ramps or bumps of some sort?
Just saying, that is a newer Jeep in the video, and the one on beam is like, 1990 or something? (bad with car era's). I can see where your coming from though.
Get some grippier tires, it will roll quite easily. The factory tires don't have much grip on asphalt as they're made for good offroadability (whereas the new jeep is made primarily for paved roads so it has gripper tires)
So what if they have nothing in common. I'm saying that a modern Jeep can roll far easier than a Hopper. why u can no read?!? --- Post updated --- ahh, ok. I haven't tried any other tire except for the normal offroad ones.
On another note, how the heck did the tires in the video burst from that turn so easily. I get that the tires got an lot of weight put on them but isn't that bad quality nonetheless?
Yes, and I'm saying thats totally irrelevant... The modern jeep is a heavy, badly engineered turd, thats why it rolls. Many other taller, heavier cars did better than the jeep because they were properly designed and engineered. Probably just because it has such low profile tires and the full weight of the car was leaning on them, especially on the front tire.
The Jeep rolled not because of bad mechanical engineeringet but instead because of the software tuning of the stability control. It's very likely that the system was not calibrated properly for the extra weight of the diesel engine. American gas powered jeeps didn't seem to have the same problem, and this issue was fixed for the 2014 model year. Edit: The Jeep Wrangler has lot of characteristics that reduce the chance of a rollover. Things like a wide track, non metal roof and less grippy off road tires. The Jeep Wranglerhas a relatively low center of gravity and low tire grip. With its huge sunroof and 20 inch tires the Grand Cherokee has a high center of gravity and high tire grip.
No sunroof. It had the top and doors off too. It's a wrangler. The stability of those is comparable to a drunken clown on stilts. In evasive maneuvers wth the hard top on, it's super sketchy. On the freeway with crosswinds, the car gets blown around like a plastic shopping bag in a parking lot. I have the rubicon which, yes, has BFG mud terrains on it, but the other wranglers come with all-seasons, and they're much more prone to traction rolling.
Simple, the modern Jeep was loaded to the maximum allowed payload and that combined with its low sidewall tires meant that instead of the sidewall giving in, the tires simply kept gripping which brought the car onto two wheels.
The hopper is understeary because of the fact that every top can be removed, and super light. Also, the tires are complete shit.
Relative to its height and ground clearance, not really. Other SUVS are a lot worse, like the Mercedes G class for example.
Yeah, I guess. The jeep is super light compared to the G. Also, I would much rather drive a G quickly than a Heep Wrangler (god jeep people gonna be pissed)
