So my ASUS Zenpad 10 Z300M finally had the update to Android N, but it had low battery (it didn't tell me it was a big update) so I updated it and it ran out of power during the update, now it is dead and when you plug it in it comes on (shows ASUS Logo) then waits, then shuts off and cycles. when plugging into a PC the screen goes off and you hear the device connection sound over and over on the windows machine (like unplugging and plugging in over and over), I did see it pop up MT65XX Preloader but now it doesn't plug in long enough for it to show anything now (or install a driver)
Try booting into the bootloader and select the recovery mode if possible. maybe factory reset could work too through bootloader. If you cant get into bootloader your device might be bricked and is now completely useles and unrecoverable. I cant remember if you have to turn on the device for rooting but that might be an option too.
before I can hold the power down for long enough it does the boot cycle thing, I'm gonna leave it on charge for ages now to get something in the battery because I think it wasn't getting enough power from the USB port on my machine
Hold the power on while it's plugged in. That seemed to help with some of my devices when they seemed like they had bricked.
looked it up and its Power+Vol down and it wont respond, I know that the device is seriously in bad shape now since I have my charging meter plugged in and eventually the tablet ramps up to 1.4 A draw but its sticking at 0.5A so it will either not charge or charge really slowly. Shame really since I was looking forward to Nougat on that tablet Also do you think what has happened will be covered by warranty? like to be fair it was my fault that I didn't have enough charge in the tablet, but then again ASUS should block the update if it knows that the battery will run out
its the stock charger that comes with the tablet, worked fine and has no damage, I tried the inbuilt charging IC on the charger doctor and still no change
oh ok, I thought there was a separate charging IC in the tablet but I guess its done differently, still drawing the current as of today...
Wont boot into recovery mode, I think its dead, I can hold Power and Vol down for the rest of my life and it still wont do anything
Same happened to my Ipod, I had to just get a new one. It can be free for a new one if it breaks for no reason
During the update, a new recovery is sometimes installed. It could be that your recovery is broken too. However, you could boot into download mode. From there you can flash a new recovery and firmware. But I think you would have tried both recovery and download already
its pretty much dead, and surprise surprise so is the ASUS support website, I will see now if it works tho, it didn't last night..
You hard bricked it, I'm guessing. Try using the MediaTek SP Flash Tool to flash the stock firmware. Asus devices are so trash. My Zenfone 2 literally drains 1% a minute on standby, my ZenPad 8.0 bootlooped itself and my other ZP8.0 bricked itself.
I'm an ASUS fan, my Zenfone 3 is a really good phone and the Zenpad is good too, at least they are allowing an RMA to take place
Asus told me to go screw myself (ZF2), charged me $180 (ZP8) and charged me $80 (2nd ZP8) if I wanted them repaired lol.
I think they have vastly improved, those are the old horror stories, my tablet has been accepted and has been repaired free of charge, just waiting for the delivery back home
