Just a quick note regarding some of the recent reviews on Sh3lbYe's Sunburst Facelift mod (rant).

A few of the recent ones all complain that people leaving lower ratings are just haters or should do it better themselves and not leave a bad review, and for anyone who shares that opinion, I feel that I need to at least state something. There's a difference between having an opinion and/or providing constructive criticism, and saying "oh this sucks because you made it." To say that someone shouldnt leave a bad review because they dont like it is absurd, thats the entire point of a review. If you played a game that was horribly optimized and you didn't like the game at all, or if you went to a restaurant and service and food was sub-par, should you not be allowed to leave a negative review? Likewise, you probably won't go and develop a better game, or provide better service and food.

I left a review with constructive criticism- and a few other reviews agreed with their own opinions on it- saying that the mod was not good in the sense of a "facelift", as that would mean taking a step forward in a company's design, not back, which is the opposite of what he did with a 2010's era Sunburst and adding a 2004-styled front end to it. The front and rear designs dont match, and as someone with at least some car design knowledge, that makes no sense for a facelift/refresh model of a car.

Now I didn't just review it for the sake of being negative, and there are other reviews saying to do something with the rear end too. The mod is a good start to be what the '89 Pessima is to the newer Pessima in the form of a previous generation Sunburst. However, I feel like these type of people don't want to hear what someone has to say if it doesn't share the same opinion, and that can negatively affect suggestions for a mod maker to improve.

Thanks for putting this out because you aren't hating on the person who made it but it's really just the content that he is producing and what he could do better with what he chooses to do with his content.

I still think 1 star ratings need to be approved by a moderator before they're submitted, but that's another story. The site should at least verify that you've downloaded the mod before you rate it.

I feel like that would be too much of a hassle, especially since occasionally there will be a bad mod on the forum that does not deserve much higher rating. If it's an abusive or hateful review, there's always a report button and I would believe the mod maker has some degree of power to bring it to attention, but is otherwise ignored

Or they remove legitimate poor reviews and silence constructive criticism.

I see where he's coming from. A system like that would be a good way to filter out bad and useless reviews that do more harm than good, like those "EWW THIS MOD DERN'T WERK, PLEASE FIX" kind of stuff. Constructive reviews could be approved, and "reviews" like that example could be tossed out the front door.
