The brake distances have all been tested and match real world numbers. If you've never played a proper driving sim before, you're probably not used to realistic grip levels and brake distances in the context of a computer game. There is a problem with launching from a stop in automatic transmission mode which we are very aware of, and are working on a solution for (it makes hill starts almost impossible). For now you can switch to manual mode with Q and build up revs in neutral before shifting into 1st.

It's just my "first impression"as the thread states

. I am realizing some things already that make more sense: such as, the rocks i'm trying to get over are extremely high so it would make sense to have a roll over there if one wheel is up on the rock blah blah... I found that i was rolling over excessively but this was one of the problems. I scaled with the wheel and some are big rocks. As well, i found that sometimes your vehicle glitches in the terrain and causes weird funny things to happen, which often leads to a roll over. Now the high speed stuff that i was complaining about is much better in the cars as you mention, but still, the trucks are ridiculous, body roll and such. I love the offroad scene in the game so again, high speed i don't care about, i just added my impression to the few rides i had going around maps on the paved road. I still think the stopping is messed up and especially in the dirt. go grab your vehicle in a gravel road and jam the breaks, then try it in this game. Day and night. I know i know, game context, but still. I'm loving offroading in this game so far but it frustrates me when i'm in first gear barely moving ( player made truck from the forum) and all of a sudden i slide a little and it's impossible to stop and all of a sudden i'm doing high speed barrel rolls... How did this even come to be? You know what i'm saying? Maybe it's wet clay that i'm on though, or maybe it's late fall and the ground is freezing up, that would make more sense.

I played spin tires as well, i forgot to add, wicked offroad physics and mudding but it lacks compared to this, by far.

You're using a 3rd party truck? Well there's your problem. I'm pretty sure the handling for the default vehicles is accurate. Use the interior view and watch your speedo. You're probably going a lot faster than you think you are. I guarantee you've never pushed a real vehicle as hard as you're pushing them in the game. If you did, you'd crash.

Tried the Gavril D-series on all sorts of configurations. Got a 1994 cherokee on the forum and a truck called the "shark" on the forum as well.

    - - - Updated - - -

The Gavril D-series is part of the original game. I'll check out my speed when i get back in game and go for a spin. haha. Any chance real mud will be added?

    Thanks for all the responses.

There's mud on the dirt track in Industrial. I guess it's not "real" mud in the sense of Spin Tires, but you can churn through it and the behavior is pretty realistic.

The cherokee is of course lifted so is going to be prone to rollover, even its lower suspension option seems to be lifted compared to a stock cherokee. The shark, I dont like that mod, it seems to handle like something from GTA to me, realism seems to have gone out of the window.
Both seem to have issues with the large wheels. I have no problems with the smaller wheel (were they the 35s?) but have had traction issues with the 44s, game doesnt like massive wheels it seems.

Love the tech demo. Unfortunately, with Christmas ahead, as well as being a student in college, I really am tight on funds. Gotta wait another 6 months before I can even think about getting around to purchasing alpha, which really sucks. All in all though, the tech demo is superb, and is much better than Rigs of Rods, in my personal opinion.

Unfortunately, I really can't afford the $15. I have 3 more years of studies ahead of me, and I need to save up in order to pay for that. Becoming an IT isn't inexpensive you know. Also, I have family who i need to get presents for. I also need to purchase my first vehicles here soon, as well as pay for my own insurance. Plus I also have other bills to pay. My parents believe that I need to learn to pay for things on my own. Yes, money does end up being pinched when you pay for college on your own. (BTW, I'm from Canada)

Be glad you don't live in the US then. College costs 10x more here, and minimum wage is lower.

I have actually heard about that in our Social studies class in high school, and i do feel sorry for those who have to pay their own way in the US, because if i remember correctly, You pay for 100% of your post-secondary education. However, i think i am only paying about 60-80% (not too sure) of my tuition. In total, my costs for the year are right around $6-8K ( $5600 - 7500 in America), and that's for college alone.

Also, I am only making about $9.68 US and although that may not seem bad, I only have a yearly income of about $9200 (these values are american dollar. In Canada, its $10.30/hour @ $9800 yearly)

But like i said, Americans do have it worse than i do, so if every american came to Canada and lived here, minimum wage would be higher, standard of living would be higher, generally most things would be better (except for the more strict gun control we have)

College here can cost $25,000 a year for tuition alone, not including housing. Some cost a bit more or a bit less, but that's the neighborhood. It's absurd.

I realize with college it must take a lot of time nd you must not have much time to actually do work, but I work 20 hours a week 5-9 after school (i'm in high school)

Well considering I'm only taking IT, I'm not too sure how much tuition would cost for someone wanting to become a doctor. But yes, the price a person pays for college in the US is just insane. Considering i can only work 16 hours a week, due to my homework, i would never be able to afford college in the US of A. :( just gotta hope i get a little extra cash for Christmas or my b-day and see if i can't use that to purchase alpha.

People here take out student loans with huge interest rates to go to college, and then end up with $100,000+ in debt by the time they get out of college, only to find that they can't even get a job. It's lovely.
