Wow! Thats some crazy stuff. Very talented.Going back to the original post. Do you just buy assorted pieces and use them from there, or do you buy the pieces you need for it?
I would like to do something like this.

I take a mixture of specially-bought pieces and pieces from official sets that I buy. I hope this answered your question.

So...I made something absolutely crazy on Brick Rigs today by swapping the drag V8 with the supercharger into the MAZ, tuning it to have firmer suspension, putting some more drift-oriented tires, on it, and then letting it loose.

    This is what I got.

    Why did I make this?

Well, during my first few sessions of driving the standard MAZ, I noticed that it was highly capable of sliding around. I decided that I should take that to the max and practically make a sleeper out of it.

If you wish for me to release this, I'd prefer to try getting the tuning right before releasing it.

So, more of my drift MAZ:

I got it lightened, retuned, and stuck on a couple external fuel tanks to solve that annoying problem of running out of gas so often. It's now practically a completely different truck than what it was before.

    DriftMaz2Pic1.png DriftMaz2Pic2.png

It's a lot better at drifting than my first or second versions (the first one was just a MAZ with a drag V8 in it). This truck can now drift quite well, considering it's a hackjob of an old truck.

So, here are the differences between the normal MAZ and my drifter:
    Diesel V12 swapped to a drag V8
    Different tires
Cab is now carbon for better COG and better handling
Two external fuel tanks added to the back to quell the thirsty V8
Suspension stiffened and shortened for better handling

So far, so good in Project Drift MAZ. If you want it released, I'd be more than happy to give it to everyone in this state. It really is quite good.

I know, I know, this is an almost-three-month bump, but...I've resumed work on my LEGO cars, and the K-Series will be next up on the list. I've got the chassis and drivetrain completed today.

Nope, it's going to be a widebody K-Series. However, I could really use my camera right now, as my phone is a POS to upload files from.

Lots more progress to show you all...but I'm not sure if I've styled the front or rear ends right.

So...this is my WIP "K-Series". I'm not sure if it even looks like a K-Series, but here you go.
    GEDC0161.jpg GEDC0162.jpg GEDC0163.jpg GEDC0164.jpg GEDC0166.jpg GEDC0167.jpg GEDC0176.jpg GEDC0177.jpg GEDC0178.jpg GEDC0179.jpg GEDC0181.jpg GEDC0182.jpg GEDC0183.jpg GEDC0184.jpg GEDC0185.jpg GEDC0186.jpg GEDC0188.jpg
As for the I-Series...well, that's been parted out a little recently. It's an ancient design compared to the K-Series, and it's not particularly strong. It could be repaired, sure, but I think I'd rather tear it down and rebuild it into something else than try and improve it, when it's already so outdated. However...what do you guys think? Should I tear it down, or should I resurrect it?

The second shot of the K-Series kinda looks like a Sunburst, doesn't it? :p I think it's the rear lights that make it look like a Sunburst from that angle.
But especially the interior and the engine are looking great!
