Alright before you guys trip over me using a amd quad core with my 770.. Understand this, my msi mpower board for my i7 took a dump on me, in the process of shipping it uninsured back to MSi for a RMA USPS royally entered me in unsafe areas. Now i'm left without a motherboard for my i7 until usps sends me any money for my claim. Which will be never.

Alright back on topic, i dug out my old amd quad core cpu and motherboard. It's a very good processor, handles BF3 just fine. But for some reason BeamNG it just doesn't like. Changing the graphics from highest to lowest did nothing for me. Same fps max settings same lowest. And 15fps is on pure grid... The cpu is using like 60%-75% in beamng on puregrid.. I dont see whats causing the issue? I am using another hard drive also, raid 0 doesnt transfer(fk my life).. The hard drive is still in good shape. using my memory from i7, motherboard is fairly old, gigabyte 880gm.

Is the gpu bottleknecking the cpu that bad?

like a gtx 770? It shouldn't. the gpu in my a6-5400k does better than that

and also what specific cpu is it?

No, the CPU is the bottleneck... All I can come up with is that it might be your RAM speed or you are overheating.

The AMD Phenom II x4 965 is a really good CPU like 65% performance compared to my i7 but I was getting 85fps with my i7. Was expecting atleast 40fps

best i can say is that beamng is weird. :/

open speedfan and see if any temps are high while playing. Maybe your cpu is down clocking and overheating.

Live for speed maxed out.. 100fps haha.

also on my 965 is a h60 cooler. Its not overheating.

did you make sure all options in post fx were off? I unchecked the post fx thing that should turn it all off but most was still on so I had to uncheck them individually

I run just fine on an athlon 2 triple core at 3.4ghz which is below the 965.... CPU is most certainly not the bottleneck.

One easy thing you should check is that the newest drivers are installed, and reinstalling beamng might work.
Weird thing it runs so badly for you.

beamng runs the physics for each car in one core on your processor. AMDs individual cores are slow.

    http://cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html

find your old i7, compare it to even the top of the line amd. then find your 965.

the game was unplayable on my old fx 4100 simply because it was not quick enough to simulate the physics. you're out of luck.

I really do call BS on it being a CPU issue seeming as an AMD Athlon 2 X3 460 is perfectly fine for 60fps on beamNG with a GTX460 on medium settings.

Today is my church day I've been caroling and stuff all day with my church blah blah. But my 965 is not that much slowerr than my 3770k I'm going to try to reinstall it. Setting graphics lowest to highest don't cause any issues with fps. Stays the same so my guess is the processor or the latest nvidia driver(beta) isn't beamng friendly

How long did your old mobo/CPU combo sit? There's always a chance the thermal interface material caked up and needs to be re-applied.

Can't be temperature problems played life for speed for like 2 hours straight and averaged 75fps the entire time. I get 12fps on pure grid. Lowest and highest settings.

    - - - Updated - - -

I'm really lost on whats causing the issue, like i said i can play other games just fine. BeamNG just isnt liking me. Heres a screenshot, the graph on the bottom left is acting alot different than what i remember lol...

    ughh.png

reinstalled it and everything... I did install originally without my graphics card, using my intergrated 4250, i wanted to see if that would work temporarily till i got my i7 setup back, was laggy so i threw my 770 in the old rig. And it set for about 8 months in my old case with just a motherboard cpu cooler and hard drive. nothing else.

    When i pause physics i get a buttery smooth 70fps :D

Turns out im getting some overheating issues, reapplied some new thermal paste still over heating, idk whats wrong.. Idling 73c with a h60 cooler. I think the h60 is dead.

Do you have the pump plugged in? Sounds like it isn't pumping. Glad you figured it out though, it was driving me crazy

how have you come to this conclusion? because whatever metric you're using (gut feeling?) is not based in facts or benchmarks. if you're trying to compare your own performance in *other* games, then you will find that not all games are created alike.

given that i've found this to be completely untrue with a similar amd processor, i will ask you to please prove what you're saying.

Based on benchmarks and such, the processor was over heating, for some reason my h60 wasnt working, had to run it off the psu's power not mobo. Plus thermal paste was junk. Getting a good 45-60fps now :) max settings.

Glad to hear. :) After hearing your problem of performance being suddenly worse under load and having dealt with so many friends who never dust out their laptops, I figured it was most likely a heat problem. ;)
