I always thought that the heat of being burnt out destroyed the quality of the metal, rendering it unuseable

Yeah it depends on lots of stuff such as the exact composition of the metal and the heat, but it was probably a pretty average fire and not enough to get it red hot so its likely still usable. I think with steel that heat strengthens it but also makes it more brittle so not sure how well it would turn out.

    Well that's pretty stupid.

...What is Azerbaijan's political system again? Because it might be time to publish an "international wall of shame" for anti-gearhead politicians who support laws like that, so people in different places can know who not to vote for when their particular elections roll around. But it won't do any good to shame an unelected autocrat who's already well used to not caring what the little people think of him.

Yeah you clearly don't have a 28 old never cleaned leaking oil Diesel.
There was up to probably 1 cm of dirty thing on the side of the engine bay.

In NZ if you want to do substantial modifications you have to get them certified which I think is good.

It's a rebadged Nissan Navara. I don't really mind it being a Mercedes since they have a pretty long history with commercial vehicles. They just never got around to make a Pick-up truck (excluding Binz).

And I think it's overzealous bureaucratic bullshit.

On a slightly different note, I've never worried much about how clean my engine bay is. It's an engine bay.

I guess you would rather be stickered like the boy racer down the road with his crappy cut springs. The law is there for the safety of other road users. You do it once and you do it properly.
here have a look at this.
Since we were on the topic of Rebadged Japanese "utes" Fiat fullback

Its probably more the case that they have never thought of their being enough demand. However with pickup trucks being an ever more popular vehicle category I think they are hoping to capitalise on that, since they already have a fairly decent variety of commercial vehicles (in Europe at least, don't know if the US gets any Euro commercial vehicles outside of the transit)

I think they have or had a rebadged Mercedes Sprinter.

Why is it called the fullback when they have quite clearly forgotten to add a roof to the back and therefore only half of the back is present...?

Or is it called that because you can fill up the entire bed with a small grocery shopping trip?

I don't. Too much opportunity for the bureaucrats to get in and make things difficult, either for "environmental" reasons or just because the government hates car people. And quite frankly, I might not want the authorities knowing what's under my hood, even if it's all legal.

Besides, it's just more hassle and expense for every upgrade.

From what I've seen in articles, Mercedes has no plans to bring the X-Class to North American countries, which seems weird since Mercedes' other commercial/luxury vehicle, the Sprinter as mentioned above, are available to purchase. Not to mention that the Mercedes Sprinter is badge-engineered as a Dodge and Freightliner, but both are sold in the same places.
