I'm wondering whether or not the Bluebuck will simply share all of its engines with the Barstow.

We do know that the Bluebuck will at least include the 1963 model year, and we also know that the generation of Barstow that we currently have was produced from 1969-1971. It's would be a stretch if the same displacements and torque curves were used, as most engines introduced in the early sixties were bored and stroked to gain power throughout the decade, but I'd expect to see the same engine model. After all, Ford used the Windsor V8 right from 1962 up until 2002.

The real wildcard in the whole Barstow/Bluebuck engine mystery is the 423 in the Burnside. We can assume it was a factory motor due to the "Burnside" lettering on the valve covers, but it would be extremely unlikely for an engine to last unmodified from 1953-1971, even if it was "handed down" to Gavril by their luxury subsidiary. Since it only appears in the Custom, Lead Sled, and Drag configurations, I'm almost wondering if it was a popular engine swap from a later Burnside (a car that, perhaps, was the Cougar to the Barstow's Mustang).

    There is still hope!

I was looking through BeamNGs old tweets to try to find anything juicy, and I found something that I tweeted at them about a year ago.

The 423 is an engine swap from the Barstow, even said it in the dev blog when it was introduced. I have no idea why the valve covers would say Burnside (I haven't looked at the model but I trust you saying it's there, I just don't know why it does).

Who knows, maybe tdev will surprise, but if it doesn't come out then, we will just speculate for it on the next update.

Yeah, maybe that guy giving the suggestion was an alternate account of his he made to foreshadow that there will be one in the coming update. He seemed a bit too eager to make it.

I think that depends on how we interpret the phrase "...from the Barstow". We could take it to literally mean that the devs intend to simulate a custom vehicle where an engine has literally been taken out of the Barstow and put into the Burnside, or we can take it as "Here's an engine that Gavril/Burnside used in several different vehicles, but you're probably most familiar with its use in the Barstow."

    upload_2017-7-28_8-39-29.png upload_2017-7-28_8-41-21.png

The problem of those valve covers still remains though. Ignoring the removable supercharger, the two blocks are identical except for this one feature. I doubt that the valve covers from the 313 could have been brought over because the 313 V8 appears to have been phased out before production of the Barstow began. I must admit that the valve covers on the two engines do appear to be of somewhat similar sizes, but I'd still like to believe that Burnside was cranking out a copy of the Barstow's 423 in the late sixties.

I'm tentatively excited, but I'm going to remain reserved until we know the deal is on. We've never had anybody approach the Beam Team with money as an incentive to create a new vehicle, and there are all kinds of ways that this could fall through; The Brazilian firm doesn't have enough time before the event to wait for such a complex vehicle to be developed, the construction company decides that letting people vandalize cars with one of their excavators isn't the best ad strategy, the higher-ups in the Brazilian firm could terminate the project before it even gets going, etc. etc. etc.

If nothing else, we do know that the Beam Team is at least considering heavy equipment at this time.

Well, it doesn't mean they can make a Gavril Excavator, maybe Gavril E-Series?

But true, money = business & time & energy.
