I wouldn't pair a 1080 with an i5 (I think it would bottleneck but I'm not sure) and as for the Vega GPUs, I just started reading info on them and for the money the Vega 64 seems pretty good, you'll have to compare it to the 1070 though.

If the 64 turns out to be better buy it.

I wait for the first reviews of it as it seems like its a bit like a 1080 and ill probably get the one with the best stock cooler as amds sometimes have heat problems and better cooling is always better

No, I Doubt I will. (sorry, couldn't resist the opportunity)

As for you, depends what you are wanting to use it for. If you haven't over clocked your current CPU it may be worth doing that and waiting an extra generation.

If overclocking your CPU made no noticeable difference, buying a new one won't make any difference either.

I actually paid $479.99 plus tax (so $513.98). I got screwed still, it's a $380 card at best, but it destroys my last setup (Crossfire R9 380s). Best thing is, my PSU no longer coil whines. Yay!

So... Those new AMD packs seems pretty intresting. I should be able to get a 200€ mobo + 400€ GPU + 400€ Ryzen for 600€ + games.
I've probably miss-readed something but yeah.

That's the same model as my parents old office PC. Although they had an ATI GPU in theirs, well, until the GPU died, then they didn't :p
I think the clock speed on theirs was above 3Ghz too. So they must have chosen a higher end spec sheet. Mostly cause my dad was super into flight sim.

Well im excited, my new monitor is coming today, a ViewSonic XG2401. TN panel but its not that bad, and the high refresh rate is good, but mainly because of the contrast and that its LED (less powerdraw and heat output).
**Que "Pointer Sisters: I'm so excited"** :p

I would totally buy one of those, but only if it was £10.

Kinda want an old p4 Computer just for the sake of properly running Windows XP lol

oh my gosh, i have never experienced above 60FPS and it is insane, amazing, but the monitor isnt all that amazing, the text is a tiny bit less sharp than on my IPS monitor, but i just remembered that i should probably retune Cleartype
    --- Post updated ---
is fine now, cleartype cleaned the text reproduction up a bit, also now it has a decent scaler, so i will connect my Playstation 3 to the HDMI port (yay)

So updating my graphics drivers caused the windows experience index to go from 6.5 to 6.6. Minor improvement, but it is not very noticeable.
