This is why I'm not buying Forza 7. They are going to add Toyota 'racecars' but not production cars? This is very confusing for me, considering all the motersport games have featured Toyotas. This means no Supra, no Celica, and no AE86. What do you guys think about this?
From what I'm hearing, this seems to be the case Project Cars 2 as well, so it might be on Toyota's end as well.
I don't know why but in Forza Horizon 3 there are no VWs too... I got really disappointed from that. Looks like they're going to that to Toyota too (Disclaimer: I haven't watched any Forza 7 videos because I'm not going to buy it. I don't know if there will be VWs in Forza 7)
VW was still paying for Dieselgate at that time. No production Toyotas might, note the word might, be a marketing decision from the big wigs from Toyota. Not confirmed though.

no car list for GT Sport yet so i can't confirm or deny that they're in the game. NFS: Payback has Toyotas (supra confirmed already) so i guess it's another exclusive license deal.

What's more confusing is how the Hilux from the Polar Special is in the game, and it isn't exactly a "race car" per say. There also the T100 trophy truck, but it's "race car related" so.

Not specifically my point, I mean, it's still wearing Toyota badges, and it's not called anything else other than simply "Toyota Hilux" in the game, like, they wouldn't call it "Arctic Trucks Hilux" or something like that. More onto the point, I guess the Hilux gets an exemption since apart from this specific one, the Hilux itself is still being produced along with other aspects, what I've concluded so far, whoever decided that since the MR2, Supra, AE86, Celica and the relatively recent 86 will, for whatever reason make "everyone" want those cars more than over what Toyota's currently offering. So basically, their logical reason is to get rid of all of the old cars, again, whoever thought of this stupid logic is retarded. But who knows whats going to happen, considering there's no official word on the upcoming/revived Supra. So far as I'm seeing, they're concerned that virtual versions of their past/discontinued models would hurt their sales, which again, is just really stupid. I mean, it's like dealerships offering people to buy out their old cars in exchange for new cars, and "pledging" to rid of the streets of old cars, and put everyone in new cars, like that'd ever effectively work.
I've heard both "EA exclusive license" and "all Toyota's fault" explanations. If it's EA, well, get ready to wait until 2032 or something to see Toyotas anywhere but Forza and Need for Speed again, at which point even I might well be too old to care. Like I said before, I guess I should be slapping myself for thinking their exclusive-license garbage would be stopping with Porsche. If it's Toyota trying to sweep their past under the rug, well, I can sort of understand where they're coming from, but I also can't pretend it isn't self-inflicted. It's kind of hard to present your new grand tourer as part of a continuum of sporting greatness when you broke that continuum around 10 years ago.
For the EA exclusive thing, there was a mobile game that added Toyota around the time this was going on, so there's a chance it's not that. It's closer to being all Toyota's fault. Toyota stopped making desirable cars awhile ago really. I don't really know how to put it, but there are a fair few older Toyotas that are big in the car or motorsport world, or whatever you wanna call it, and their older cars focused on the drivers experience alittle more than their new ones. (But most new cars nowadays completly miss the 'drivers experience' checkbox). Really aside from the new 86 (which isn't even that new anymore) they don't sell anything with 'sport' or 'driving experience' in mind atall. Every new Toyota I've seen driving about IRl has had a blue glow around the badge, indicating that it's a hybrid or electric. None of us here are interested in this, and putting their older cars into video games won't advertise their new ones atall. Near 40 year old Corollas, mid engined mini snap oversteers and Supra's with massive power don't exactly scream 'Environmentally friendly', or 'practical' (if you can call an electric car that). That's all Toyota is interested in now. They see more money in the electric cars that drive theirself, over fun cars, and at the end of the day, all anyone seems to care about nowadays is money.
I love how Toyota want to hind there past I mean the only reason why people started to like them in the 90's was because of the Supra but they want to go back to the boring hatchback you had for 5 years and throw that fucker in the scrap yard after you bought a new sedan or wagon to haul that bitch you fucked to make those little shit she shit out not to long ago.
That seems to be their thing. Get as much advertisement as possible without showing their older production vehicles, then cover it up by not putting their newer production vehicles. (Not that we want them anyway)
I almost feel like they are doing this to make money... weirdly... I mean, think about it. The new Supra is upon us... and when it comes, good or bad, everyone is gonna be all over that thing until we find out if its good or bad. What's the fastest way most of us will be able to see that car? In video games... sometimes we get to drive this stuff even before the public does. This is when Toyota strikes. DLC is a common thing now, they know that we want their old cars and the GT86 is just kinda... mehh to most of us. They include the 86 to give us a taste and that's it. Once the Supra comes out, they make a DLC pack with all their popular cars, and of course... the new Supra. Many weak minded people will buy that DLC just to get their hands on that new Supra at $6.99 for the pack or $1.99 for just that car. If they played their cards right and include the right cars, Toyota has the potential to make a boatload of money off of this... Or they could be hiding their old cars as stated earlier... that could be it too... we may never know...
