Update Speculation thread

I'm starting to think that the worst thing that ever happened to the dev team was having the good fortune to be able to release new updates at the approximate rate of one per month-and-a-half a while back, each with its own new map or car. I know that coding isn't a linear process, so that run of good luck (mixed with what is undoubtedly always a ton of hard work) may have set the bar uncomfortably high, especially as the game continues to grow in complexity.

In the meantime, I really like this:

I'm not sure that the dev team fully realizes the power of showing us things that are still not quite done yet. Seeing unfinished work is helpful because it provides a stark visual indication that things are still WIP. A lot of people seem to assume that if the content in the dev screenshots look finished, then the entire thing must be ready or very close to it. (I'm looking at everybody who thinks that Italy is nearing completion right now, despite @LJFHutch 's repeated use of the phrase "WIP")

 

It's almost 1:00 (look at the time)

 

I would like to see more screenshots of things more obviously WIP. Once LJFHutch posted a screenshot from a different angle of an area posted in a development screenshot earlier that day and the difference was hard to believe. I find it interesting seeing how the content looks during different stages of development and have gotten into the habit of looking in the background of development screenshots most because I honestly am interested in the WIP more than the finished stuff. I'll get to see the finished stuff when it comes out, but not the WIP. I was really surprised to see how barren WCUSA looked in the background of the recent picture of the dirt track.

 

If the update was gonna be dropped today, the 0.9 Discussion thread would be locked.

 

It will probably be locked like 30 minutes before the update comes out.

What I'm trying to convey is, the update's not coming today. Maybe in a few weeks to a month or two.
