I had a little fun with it, and I do kinda like the whole "murder the car in 18473 ways" concept. The only problem is that my poor tablet couldn't handle me accidentally shooting a missile at a huge gathering of breakable pillars, and well, my graphics card crashed 4-5 times, then my computer blue screened O_O It's okay now, I just am not going to do that ever again.
Seems like any other almost calculated damage engine out there, plastic fantastic. Makoto H.: I like your positive approach to the world. Have tried 8 detailed cars so far without the FPS dropping to much so im not worried. Remember Beamng isnt a damage system, its a way beyond competition-physics system
Early Access is out, check your e-mail. Also, someone at Bugbear liked Driv3r: (imported from here) (imported from here) mind=blown inb4 b-b-but different headlights and grill
Stuff I noticed so far: -Ai seems to use more the rear of the car during derby. -Damage is less exagerate now, looks like they pumped it just for the sneak.
I prefered the Damage from the SneakPeak a lot more! Now you need to recive quite a good hit to actually get some deformation. But usually in a Race even if I did hit or got hit at least 10times, my car still looks the same. For Demolition Derby the damage is perfect, for races not at all...
Another thing I've noticed about the damage is that you can plow through most of the props and stuff on the race tracks repeatedly with no damage. The most annoying thing in this game at the moment is how sticky the barriers are. If you even brush up against a guardrail or wall, it will just grab the front of your car and spin it around, or, if you hit it at a slightly steeper angle, it will just stop you. These are especially annoying to me because I'm so bad ay this game.
The steering on an Xbox controller feels too slow. I keep spinning and going into walls because I can't turn the wheel fast enough.
I want to buy it, but, does it have a DRM? Or can you install onto as many PC's as you want? I am getting the $35 pre-order.
BeamNG might be slightly left behind Nerd3 plays Next car game and loves it. Which unfortunately might be a bad thing to our beloved BeamNG. BeamNG undisputedly has the best vehicle physics of anything today. But I think I can say, the majority come for the crashes and not physics in general. That being said, Next Car Game has some alright crashes. It's what the game is about. It has huge amounts of partials and mass physics, stunning graphics, and it all runs like pure triple-cream on any PC. Its also not relying on mods, or the player having the ability to code and 3D model to add variety to the game. Which if you're like me, is a gamer, loves cariety like that, but Im no coder, modeler, or 2D artist. Changing the colour of my car is complicated enough, but whole skins, new cars, maps ect, is way bit over my head, and I'd assume over most of the BeamNG buyers. Short of simply downloading other people's work of course. Next Car Game is fun, good crashes, physics, graphics, and is most importantly very accessible. In terms of things previously mentioned. Im very sure most will argue that they're not even similar to each other. Unfortunately the reality is that, to the average or even hardcore player, they are. To the most basic points they are in fact in the exact same family. Vehicle simulation with crashes and physics. All that being said, I know this write seems VERY biased to Next Car Game, when in truth BeamNG is where my personal opinion lies. But looking at raw facts, I think more people, including myself will in fact be MUCH more glad to spend any amount of money on Next Car Game, even if it is $10 more expensive over BeamNG.
Re: BeamNG might be slightly left behind I sure hope you realized during the video he would recommend BeamNG more because the physic of the car a simulated properly. But if their was away to combined the two game engines, life wouldn't exist anymore because our minds would blow up the world. I love watching Nerd3 play awesome games.
Re: BeamNG might be slightly left behind He said "I still recommend BeamNG because its much more specific." No where did he say he recommend it more then Next Car Game. He says MANY times "Have you preorderd this game yet?!?" also other quotes like "Is it to late to change my game of the year?" "Best destruction Ive ever seen in any game" "Go get this, I can't recommend this enough, Im going to recommend this little tech demo more then full games, this is insane, you need this in your life" are a few things praising Next Car Game.
Re: BeamNG might be slightly left behind In my opinion there both quite different games, NCG is a arcade destruction game, while beamNG is a softbody vehicle simulator, I don't think its right to compare the 2
Re: BeamNG might be slightly left behind The rest of the write was my thoughts, but for who cares about his thoughts, about 1.4 million subscribers. he has VERY slightly less subscribers then Total Biscuit himself. Whom I'd say would say similar things to what I said. Nerd3 is more of an average gamer, as opposed to Total Biscuits cynical critic. But I'd imagine Nerd3 opinion generally speaks for a large majority of average gamers, which hold most of the BeamNG purchases I'd think.
Re: BeamNG might be slightly left behind You should realize that putting a vehicle or a map on BeamNG is not very hard if you have even a small amount of tech skills. It is as simple as dropping the extracted ZIP folder into the levels/vehicles folders. As gabester said before, NCG uses a "sliding brick" model, which has been used for plenty of games before. Honestly, there are plenty of very popular games that you need to do the same thing, if not more advanced of a method, to add new content to the game. If you cannot muster that small amount of technological skill required to mod this game, just use the official content. It is very high quality, and has 6 cars, and 6 maps. I use that same amount of mods normally, and I have not gotten bored of the game yet. All in all, BeamNG is not in any way behind, it just needs a little tech skill to use. Also, don't say that a YouTuber can speak for people. That just is so wrong to say. I am huge fans of YouTubers, and I will never let them speak for me. That is exactly why there are the fanboy 7 year olds who will not shut up online about their favorite YouTuber and when you make one possibly negative reply to them, they will rant on about how they are their life, and nothing you say can prove them wrong. Trust me, it has happened too many times to me online, and it is too hard to avoid them.
Re: BeamNG might be slightly left behind Well hence some of the things I wrote. To most, BeamNg is a game with amazing crashes. So I think it's fine to compare them, Just Next Car Game is MUCH easier to use, plays better, and can get more then 40 fps with 2 cars on the screen.
