Ok, so I saved up my money after 3 weeks to buy a "decent" computer Specs: (Don't know the full specs, it doesn't show full specs for some reason) Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU M64 (then the page just cuts off, I guess it says 6400k) 8GB RAM 2.80GHz Dell Latitude E6510 Yes, it's a windows 7!!!!! But please don't say "don't buy the pc if it doesn't show full specs." Give me your opinions, the pc is worth around 200-400 dollar value. I can get one for 275 at my local "PC Store" --- Post updated --- Let me fix that, it's a Intel(R) Core(TM) 640 2.80GHz
It's hard to tell if it's worth the upgrade when we don't know what your current system specs are. That said, that laptop is extremely old and wouldn't be worth nearly $200. On such a low budget you should really consider a desktop PC.
The GPU is also very important for gaming, if the laptop has only integrated graphics, better to save more money and just build your own PC, not that hard. Also the amount of RAM doesnt make games run better, it can only load more game files the more RAM you have. Upgrading to 8GB to 6GB with that laptop and very old cpu is not worth it.
The Dell is a good professionell office laptop. Its rugged, has a good keyboard and a lot of ports. Its going to work fine for school, college, office workloads and browsing the net. Since youre in forum of a game i must say it isnt the machine for gaming. Pre 2010 AAA Games may run okayish and modern Indiegames in 2D shouldnt be a problem. Beamng isnt going to be fun. It may run on a small map with the covet at 10-15fps. I dont know the prices in the US but used or refurbished Lenovo Thinkpads, dell Latitudes and HP Elitebooks(all of them compete in the same category of pro office Laptops) have at least a 2nd or 3rd generation Intel Core I processor in that pricerange of 250 - 400$ in germany(The 640 is a 1st gen Core I Chip: slower, less efficent, etc). In the last 6 years i had a bunch of used Thinkpads (X and T series) between 100 and 400$ and they are great workhorses if you dont need the newest hardware but as i said they arent constructed with gaming in mind. pro tip: If you want to be mobile check the prices and ratings for new 3rd party battery packs before buying the laptop, you may need or want one. A 5 year old batterypack wont last long. In the very best case 2-3h. If you want to game on a budget dont get a laptop. Buy an used tower and get a decent gpu from ebay with that. [meme] Laptop, cheap, gaming ... choose two [/meme]
To be honest with those specifications I would simply avoid it the graphics in it is likely onboard and its not built for serious gaming and that processor would thermal throttle if you gave it BeamNG Drive its just not built for gaming
Ok I got the full specs 500GB HDD And the GPU and CPU are pretty bad I willl keep looking to see if I can buy computer parts so I can build my own pc/ get a cheap "decent" gaming PC One that supports directx 12 because I can't play FH3
I guess a good place to start for gaming is an i5 processor they are generally cheaper than the higher end i7s and even less than the even more insanely powerful and stupidly priced i9 chips coming out later on in the month..
If you want a decent PC to game on Jayztwocents made a video about a cheap desktop for around 800 USD. it features latest tech, and is a decent 1080p machine. CPU: AMD RYZEN 3 1200 GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1060 6GB RAM: 16 GB. remember that you need Display, Keyboard and Mouse too! Or if you want to go a little risky, look for 2008-2010 Server Equipment on ebay. Im talking about the LGA771 socket especially. Intel Xeon X5450 (Quad Core, 3.0GHz, 12M Cache) Intel Xeon L5420 (Quad Core, 2.5GHz,12M Cache) You'll need two of one of these, they are dirt cheap (Around 40 USD) Then Get hold of a Dell PowerEdge 2900 0NX642 or NX624 Board which should go around 70USD Its a Dual Socket LGA771 Board, that has one disadvantage. Its a non-standard form factor. so you probably will need a Workstation Case (Dell PowerEdge 2900 III) or a Large Testbench and a Drill because its a Tad Bigger than ATX (when i remember that correctly) Then Get some sicks of this RAM: Four are Best in this case, usually around 10 USD per Stick, 4GB ECC RDIMM DDR2 800MHz PC2 6400 REG You'll need to do some research on power Consumption, etc then buy a LGA771 CPU Cooler and a Proper GPU Again a 1060 6GB, 1070 8GB or the upcoming AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 (which is a tad better than the 1070) are Good. You therefore essentially get a 8-Core 3.0GHz PC with up to 32GB of RAM for around 200-250USD (without PSU, GPU, Cooler, Thermal Compound) Before Doing this you should talk this through with someone who knows his way around PCs in your surroundings and may be able to help you. If you Cock it up or something goes haywire your Equipment might get Fried. (Including your Brand New, 400USD GPU) Also be aware of the fact that you might need other miscellaneous things like screws, MoBo Standoffs, TC etc... Also i dont take any responsibility for something not working or you wasting your money. Again, talk with a friend or somebody to help you around and doublecheck my list for mistakes (Might have happened, no guarantee whatsoever. Im just a regular dude. No Expert in anything)
Not Bad!! i DO have intel core I5 it's just in my old laptop. I'll save until i get around 500-800 USD Thanks for the information
It depends on which generation of i5 it is in the first place, and usually chips in laptops are not removable. or at least not without a lot of trouble. --- Post updated --- also you can maybe save up a little by buying last years cards. i have to check pricing but i think the EVGA 980 is quite cheap and still a good card, or go even older and buy a pair of 780ti's for running in 2xSLI
SLI sometimes always doesnt work with most games, so its better to save it and go for a single card rather than a dual card
Its a notebook with intel HD graphics right? (intel says here: http://ark.intel.com/products/49666/Intel-Core-i7-640M-Processor-4M-Cache-2_80-GHz) It doesnt worth the money, save a little bit more and buy a desktop one, that you can upgrade, as i experienced notebooks not ment to games tend to be useless for gaming within a few years, i have a lg notebook that runned beamng at 30fps in low settings and loaded everything with 2 minutes (a year or more ago) nowadays it does run beamng at 15fps and takes 5 minutes to load a map (all this was a example for showing that normal notebooks get obsolete fast) , so buy a desktop that you can upgrade, you can build one from a cheap pc and buying the things one after another, or buying them when you saved enough for.
lol. 780s are dirt cheap. and the 980 is more than capable of running most AAA titles on High settings 1080p. (Dont expect to get 4k for below $3k)
yeah 780s are the best option they really are cheap and I know I have a 4K capable system, but I run it at 1080p to get more performance I know I can do 4K but the FPS hit would be have to be considered and I like 1080p60 rather than 4K30
you mean 980. and you run a 980ti which is like every XX80ti 4k/HQ optimized in comparison to the XX80
