those are hood pins, it's a replacement for a much heavier hood latch, it can hold the hood down in a crash but not always, may need to make the hood pins a break group so it breaks if there's enough force, otherwise it'll be like it's welded shut (I don't know how to make break groups but I do know how they work because the CRD monster truck body has them in a few places, really where the body connects to the frame so I expect this to have a lot of break groups as well)

but yes the old trucks did have hood pins

I asume i could just make them the same way normal hood latches are made
Just make them a bit weaker and change the position of them

I'm making the two engines, transmissions, and differentials

 

Maybe can give us some more info about the engine and the trans? Horsepower and torque? Trans, 4 speed I hope as the real ones have

 

Cant give engine specifics right now because I'm not at my computer, but they are four speeds. I made ten different transmissions but I'm thinking of just combining them to one and having the first three gear ratios and reverse adjustable, with 4th being 1:1. The three differentials are based on some information I found from Winters quick change gears, based on three different ring and pinion ratios allowing a wide range of rear end ratios, as low as 2.18 to as high as 9.14

I would say that the engines and drivetrain are pretty much vital in order for the mod to work
I dont think it will be all that popular if there is no working engines or transmissions included

at least you're still making the first Nascar based on a stock vehicle, and the first truck Nascar (this one doesn't have roof flaps either)

 

There are many other differences between a late model stock car and a nascar truck
The suspension setups and power figues differ greatly and i think it is a realy good thing that i am not the only one making a stock car
