i want to have a certain gif for my avatar but an error pops up saying to use a gif smaller than 1MB. I found one that was only 1.72KB but it still wouldn't accept it. Something wrong here?

I'm sure he meant a mb. No reason to point that out.

I noticed that too. I compressed a gif to ~0.9 MBs, and it wouldn't accept, even though it's under 1 MB.

No. I literally edited/compressed the gif that much.

I've noticed this before - but with mods - is that files actually have a small increase in size when they get uploaded here. IDK if it is the same for avatars but try a .7mb file and see if that works.

Nope. I even compressed it down to 700 KiBs, and it still thinks it's over 1 MB.

I managed to upload a 5 MB gif as an avatar just fine (it was 5 frames on a 1300 by 2600 image, I did this 3 hours ago and switched back). It might be limited to the number of frames it can have.

Try a tiny two-frame gif off the internet and see if that works. It might just be the uploader, idk.

Nope. I still can't upload a gif. Like @Godzilla! said, it maybe related to the number for frames in it.

    --- Post updated ---
It appears to be uploading 91 frames JPeg/Gif hybrid with no issues.

maybe its because you uploaded it before they put that new limiter.

Sorry for the bump but apparently a 500kb gif is considered too big for 1mb limit. I brought up the issue a while back and it really never went anywhere.
this is the image that i would like to upload and use

    ezgif-1-765ff4961b-compressor.gif

    It's only 538kb

here is a gif that is 907kb
    ezgifcom-optimize1.gif
this one is considered perfectly fine.

Can somebody lead me to a solution this time? @Nadeox1

i think the reason why the size is small is because if someone had crappy internet (we will all here shortly) or a bad pc

the pages would take forever to load
