RELYT2012 submitted a new resource: RatSide(RatRod) - Very early staged RatRod. Built from the burnside. Read more about this resource...
Well The Beamng website says that burnside was founded in 1953 and discontinued in 1985, so is it a early model or a customized burnside? https://wiki.beamng.com/Burnside
Problems I've found so far: Gearing needs lengthened for automatic Gearing needs shortened for manual Possibly more power Things I suggest: Make a rust skin Lengthen it a bit Add lights Remove front radiator support and make custom one? (or cut the original radiator support)
The transmission goes "Park-Neutral-Reverse-Drive" instead of "Park-Reverse-Neutral-Drive". Great mod though!
Something isn't right about the way the back part of the doors when they meet the body EDIT (poor typing) I can make a cabin that works well with the chopped doors

I've seen there's a little bed that can be added to it... Will it also get a front grille(or various)? I know it's the ratrod, but it'd be cool to see it get options for beds/trunks, Grilles, hoods and maybe even fenders... a Vehicle that could be built as desired, from just the frame to a complete custom hotrod...
Can you make this in the normal Burnside selector so we can make cool configs that way? I'm just curious. Also, can you please credit me for requesting the T-bucket?
Rat rods use whatever you want. The whole point of a rat rod is to make it your own, and stand out from the crowd. The last thing you want is the blend in with all the other Chevy 350 owners and their half assed builds. This one uses a diesel 1.9L engine from a volkswagen, for example Great style and great fuel economy.
I couldn't agree with you more, it's about time somebody else said this! My friend's dad is working on 2 rat rods at the moment, one with a Detroit Diesel 6-71, the other with a 4G63, the DD is for Off-roading while the 4G is for On-road use
I know ratrods are street cars, but could you make offroad/rally parts for this? That would really be one of a kind
I would like to keep it separate from the burnside for several reasons. First, sounds. The sounds are going to be custom soon, hopefully. Second, this is its own vehicle. I want to keep it that way. Thanks for your input though, it is appreciated.
Just a suggestion.. the engine and transmission needs to be moved back. Standard practice with hotrods is to have the engine as far back as the bulkhead will allow. People who dump a T bucket body on a pickup chassis for example, dont leave the motor hanging between the front wheels. Getting it as far back and low down as possible improves handling and looks no end. The frontmost part of the hotrod should be the front tyres. Behind that, the front axle, and the radiator and chassis crossmember behind that. Then the engine. You need to cut the excess length off the front of the chassis and loose the burnside radiator surround at least. I know this makes the driveshaft very short, but that is sorted with a sliding section, and very little suspension travel at the rear.
There was a car back when Rigs Of Rods was hugely popular called the Burnside. No model name, just Burnside. It looked like a late 70's to mid 80's car, so I think that's where they were going when they said Burnside died in '85.

Hate to bump, but I would really love an update with some chopped hood options, some more engine components, and fixed UVs on the truck bed. A stiffer frame that doesnt vibrate nearly as much would be nice, too. Otherwise it's fun to drive.
