AMD GPU Screen Recording

Hey guys,

I'd like to record BeamNG via my AMD Radeon HD 6950 GPU. Could you give me any recommendations of software I could use to accomplish this?

I tried installing relive, but nothing happened. Is there a trick to getting it to run/work/install?

 

I really recommend Open Broadcasting Software. It is free, and I have used it before. You can also stream with OBS.

 

Yea, but doesn't that mainly use the CPU to record?

 

I'm not too sure.. People are saying that if you're streaming it eats up the CPU, but for recording I am not sure.

I've been using OBS previously to record, but everything turns out extremely choppy. Maybe I've configured the settings incorrectly.

 

Yeah I have had the same issues. I use Fraps a lot though. It is not worth $40 though, and it's quite outdated, and not good on FPS.

Maybe try Shadowplay? It costs money though, but as of what I'm reading, it seems fine on CPUs, and doesn't strain them as much. As for GPUs it should be fine.

 

Shadowplay requires a Nvidia GPU.

Microsoft expression encoder if lag is your issue. There is a 10 minute limit per clip, but you can start again. It sometimes gets annoying, but for some reason it doesnt affect my FPS at all on my craptop

 

Recording with OBS while saving to my SSD with minimal compression works well. Thanks guys!

Anyone, know how to fix the choppiness with OBS?

Normal gameplay is smooth but when the file is played back it's choppy.

I can't figure it out..

Tried all suggestions on Google and nothing fixes it.

OBS worked fine before.

relive. It's so great as you can record without setting up beforehand and you use keyboard shortcuts. You have an R9 380X so it should be good.
