Talk about engines you would put in an Engine Hall of Fame.

    Mine would include:
    • Honda A-/B-/K-Series - A perfect blend of reliability, sportiness and tuneability.
    • Ford Modular V8 - They're both cheap and very reliable.
    • Toyota JZ-Series - A strong, reliable tuning weapon.
    • GM LS-Series - Powerful, compact, light, huge aftermarket.
    • Mercedes OM615/616/617 - Insanely durable and surprisingly potent in terms of tuning.
    • Ford Flathead V8 - The engine that probably started it all in tuning.
    • VW 1.9 TDI (90s one) - Reliable and very tuneable.
    • GM Duramax - A very torquey, potent powerplant.
    • 426 Hemi - The ginormous horsepower base for the tuner with deep pockets.

Also if Beam counts, Ibishu’s 2.something liter I4. In the Pessima and 200BX, if you slap a turbo on there it becomes a drifting powerhouse.

I believe that the 2.7-liter V6 in the 1996 Pessima is a slightly better engine than the 2.0-liter L4. 173 N/A horsepower, readily available for use without any turbo lag at all. It's still plenty powerful enough for most applications.

As for other great Beam engines, I think that this deserves a spot on the list.
-600cc L3 in the Pigeon. 130 hp/L, 9.5K redline, and a tiny size and weight combine to turn the Pigeon into an autocross beast.

Toyota's A-series engines, especially the 4A-GE as it's got a huge aftermarket, delivers amazing sound, power, and reliability, and powers the legendary hachiroku, and the iconic MR2 AW11.

6.1 L BMW S70/2 V12: Found on the Mclaren F1 and it still holds the world record for fastest naturally aspirated production car in history.

177 C.I.D. (2.9 L) 20 hp I4: Found on the Ford Model T and we should all know what the Ford Model T did for the automotive industry.

"Fastest naturally aspirated" is a bit narrow.

Porsche's flat 6 engine models (turbochargers included) from the 70's to the early 90's. also the flat 12 engine from the porsche 917, not to mention it sounds amazing.

Well it did hold the worlds fastest production car for years but the most modern hyper cars are unable to beat the Mclaren F1 due to their turbos or superchargers.

Isuzu 6DE1 (GM Y/Z30DT) sounds too bloody good to be a diesel, shame it has a meagre 186hp power output for 3.0 turbocharged, this is probably my favourite engine of all time.

Buick 3800 3.8 V6, what an amazing engine

Jaguar AJ-D engines, amazing diesel engines that helped save Jaguar from well bankruptcy.

The 2.8T GM engine, a massive powerband from around 1800RPM to 5500RPM a flat line of torque.
