I live in Poland and I love american cars and don't really like European or Asian ones... I love the sound of a classic american V8 or a big displacement turbo diesel. I think that american cars would have a great future in Europe if gas was cheaper, as you can get a well equipped american car for about 75% of an European equivalent, but prices of about 4.5 PLN/ liter for a 95 octane (about 4.7$ per gallon) (which is the most basic fuel you can get on the gas station in Poland) and with an average income being about 1000-1200$/month, I can clearly see where is the problem. And what is really annoying... half of the gas price is stupid taxes...

Another reason of american cars being so unpopular is because of insurance. Dumb polish government have decided that the displacement of the engine is the most deadly thing on earth so you pay incredible insurance for basically everything over 2000cc, so insuring a 5,9 cummins in Poland would be a suicide as you would pay the equivalent of what the ram itself is worth just to insure it for 2-3 years...
+ all of the annoying pollution regulations do not help as even my dad's 75hp renault megane had troubles gettng threw the emissions just because of removed cat...

Why is everyone complaining about american cars being so fuel consuming?
Audi A4 2.0 TFSI Ultra- 31 mpg combined
Chrysler 200 2.4 (RIP, you were a good car)- 27 mpg combined
Doesn't seem like a big difference to me.

Ironically, Sweden and presumably Finland have many people who love American cars.

we don't hate them but it's just that european cars have better handling, driving experience, stability and they are more fuel efficient
oh and also the interior is more nice looking in general

I disagree. In general, american interiors have simple, elegant design and european ones are a melted, asymmetrical mess.
    Compare these:

well the dodge is out cause it's look like 100% plastic
then there is less button in the audi and BMW, the aeration is better integrated. Audi and BMW have a more quality interior with the adjustment and the choice of materials
the chrysler is pretty good but there is a problem with the GPS position and integration with the dash board

The materials of both audi and Bmw are nearly the same as the american ones also alot of older bmws wich are older than 2017 and younger than 2009 fall apart really fast the interior is looking godawful in the audi and bmw you dont have as much space and how often do you touch the dashoard youre supposed to have them on the steering wheel

Early 2000's for the win because they had steering wheel buttons but don't have touch screens.

Most often it's because of the fuel consuption. In america fuel is its much cheaper than in europe.
