Not too sure then. It never really hurts to take it all apart and reseat it, and cleaning it while there. Except the time it takes to do so atleast. You could also try a stress test thing (I think Prime95's pretty good, and does most things) and see how it does with that. As for the PC powering off thing: you say the PSU might be out, so you could try some compressed air on it and clean it up abit. If enough of it builds up, dust can sometimes short the PC out. If you do that, I'd probably clean the rest of it out while there. Atleast checking dust off the list of possible causes
Can confirm at this point: Stability is better with just a reseated gpu I can also confirm I am baffled
To the Asshat who used some kind of cement glue to glue this heatsink to that fragile ATI Mobility FireGL T2 chip. Fuck you... Took me hours of careful prising and pulling... He glued both sides of the thermal transfer pad.. Atleased he used it I guess...
Fan in this machine was dead. Guess He/She/It... Tried to repair it and grabbed the adhesive cement instead of the thermal paste... Had a little scare when the Bios was all artifacted, thankfully that was just a bad stick of memory.
General word of warning... Xbox Design-Lab controllers actually suck. The left bumper feels soft and the menu button slightly sticks. It also has input lag like none-other (running over bluetooth) and in some games (Ghost Recon) refuses to work properly at random moments. Like the custom looks, just hate the actual build quality...
So the looks are the only thing really going for it? Because at that point it'd probably just be easier to modify the standard controller. Probably cheaper aswell, seeing as a quick check shows the Design-Lab controller costs atleast $80
well that and the Bluetooth capabilities (when its working). While I'm happy with how my design turned out, the build quality on what is essentially a one-s controller is shockingly bad (compared to my stock xbox one controller).
Well, the recent release of the ThinkPad 25 made me relize how much I missed my ThinkPads. So I went ahead and bought myself a true ThinkPad. IBM! none of that Lenovo rubbish! An IBM ThinkPad T42P, the P makes it special . It originally had a French AZERTY keyboard which I've kinda modified and converted to a UK QWERTY and the glued on heatsink as mentioned above. It has a 1.8Ghz Pentium M and 512MB's of Memory. Currently running Linux Mint from a USB drive because aparently the 60GB Hitachi DeathStar hard drive I had lived up to it's name... Showed signs of stiction and when I gave it a whack it grinded into life then died completely shortly after.. This ThinkPad being the 'P' model has the ATI Mobility FirePro GL T2 graphics chipset and my one being equiped with a 15" screen has a resolution of 1600 x 1200. Good 'ol 4:3 aspect ratio. Got some plans for this machine which includes converting it to SATA to accept a MSATA SSD and loading it up with Memory, I regret selling all of my DDR memory now...
Was Media Center even used for much? I'm sure it was just like a Windows equivilent of Steam Big Picture
Pretty much everyone with a Windows PC that hadn't been infected by Cyberlink Power DVD used it. VLC was also used by some people too. These day's everyone uses their phone/tablet instead, I like to think that is because every single form of media playback built into Win 10 sucks.
Media Centre is one of those things that you take for granted, that you miss only when you don't have access to, such a cool piece of software and I still know the music and etc
I know it had the Media Player thing built in, but I'm sure there was more to it, that most people just ignored. And it's funny you say 'infected' because my laptop came with it. Not surprisingly, it's A HP laptop. There isn't much that come with them that isn't considered a virus of sorts. If anyone ever gets one, I suggest just reinstalling windows with only the needed stuff + your stuff. It makes them a ton faster. My laptop is faster now than what it was when it left the factory. And it's 7 years old
I can't believe on the app store there is an app from Microsoft for £7 called DVD player.... Like for that money it should wash the dishes
To be honest I haven't had it installed on any of my machines since Windows 98. I remember it being good back then and during the XP era I remember it working well on school computers. However I tend to use Zoom Player and Foobar for my media based needs. I also have KMPlayer installed too, just in case that tickles my fancy.
I remember using the media player sometimes but i dont even remember when it was its been at least 10 years now. Also is it worth the money to just buy a logitech shifter wirh Adapter or is it thrown out money?
