My car does do auto downshifts but not upshifts so your system is quite realistic actually and its a good feature for me as i quite often forget to downshift in beamng. Also could you maybe add a button where you can shift from manual mode of the automatic back to sport or normal mode because if youre in manual mode you have to drop down to first and then back to sport wich isnt to good if youre at motorway speeds
The big issue with that is the lack of buttons we have I'd love to make stuff easier to use and apply similar concepts like real cars do, but with just keys and buttons (especially on a gamepad) you run out of stuff really quickly... Maybe one day if we get generic button modifiers.
Oh and fun fact, in BMWs it's surprisingly hard to get from M mode back to S mode. Kind of annoying, I always wanted some button for that.
Maybe at some point stuff like when you push 2 buttons at once you can change more stuff like the shortcut for the vehicle selector?
Slap the shifter back to D then back to S. Note that the ETK shifter has a separate position for S and manual mode. Also, according to tech training documents, if the drive mode (rocker switch) is Sport rather than Comfort/ECO, the transmission shift speed/program is already in sport but without the S-x gear indicator. Not sure if it will rev-match in purely automatic shift modes. The rocker switch will also change steering weight, throttle sensitivity, and damper setting when optioned. All BMW had to do is include a gear number display in D like a Porsche... or a Citroen. That said, until recently sport shift mode would only show DS in cars without the paddle shift sport transmission option. So... progress?
Yep that's exactly what I call annoyingly complicated I'd rather have a button for it (for example re-use the unlock button). Same situation happens when using M in D, sometimes it doesn't want to go back to D automatically fast enough for my taste, so then it's again D -> S -> D to bring it back... Looks funny if you constantly slap the shifter There are some subtle differences between D + Sport, S and S + Sport, I actually prefer S + Sport (but without the stiffened up suspension) for regular streets.
I normaly use Sport mode supension and steering and Normal D for the Gearbox as my car revs around 4500Rpm when you drive through streets at 50kph i also got the supsension in the hardest setting as its usuyally super soft suspension wise also would something like DCC or adaptive steering be feasable to implement in Beam or is it too complicated for to little outcome?
Nah, I just directly go to a manual car then. M mode can be fun at times, but I prefer the more physical involvement of actually having to shift properly then. Heck, the only thing I really love about the auto transmission (and the AWD) is just how incredibly quick you get to speed when standing still. I mean the same works for a manual too ofc, but at much higher costs (of clutch wear). For sporty driving I actually prefer a manual, it just feels better even though it is undeniably slower.
You sure about that? I once accidentally left it in M and it upshifted although REALLY late (in auto on full throttle it upshifts at 6k rpms but in M without upshifting it stayed at 6.5k and then upshifted) the engine has no power up there with it being a small turbo engine. Also when I put it in 7th and floor it when the engine is at about 1k rpms it will kick down hard to 2nd so wont let you lug the engine I guess.
Mine wont upshift but maybe because ive got the 6 speed dsg wich might behave diffrent when driving but mine will change down to if im in manual
Now I'm going to annoy diamondback with the Jaguar XFS gearbox behaviour, in Drive mode the paddles allow for gear selection, but if the auto box thinks it is an unsuitable gear then it will change. In Sport mode it will stick to that gear no matter what, unless you slow to like 1000RPM where it drops cogs.
It could be done so that it goes back into auto when you hold down one of the shift buttons for a few seconds, if and when that functionality is added.
thats like need for speed world / some nfs games you can shift but after a while it overwrites it I have a mitsubishi with INVECS-II (120KW 2.4L) and I haven't floored it hard enough and kept it floored to know what it does in manual or drive modes near redline highest i've gone is 5750 rpm before I backed off the throttle just switch the gearbox from realistic to arcade mode... but it will still display as being in M whatever gear and the moment you switch back it changes to that gear @Diamondback You think you could implement a setting that allows for D and R to display gears in the tacho?" While you're at it is it possible to make an automatic into a sequential with Manual reverse and Forward gears? What about cvt ratio selection? like the throttle on planes you could set the cvt ratio manually?
hey @Goosah , is that specialized damping applied automatically or will stuff need to be converted over?
I'm really loving the looks of WCUSA, can't wait to explore the city and take some nice drives down the mountain roads. However, there is something a little off about one of the most recent screenshots. I don't know if anybody else spotted it but it's going to bother me like the yield signs with stop painted on the ground in GTA. There are parking spot markers but the curb is red.
WCUSA looks amazing. I had to pick my jaw up from the floor after seeing the new pics, it's probably the best looking map Mitch has ever made! Honestly, I can't stress enough how beautiful it looks.
