City-test in Torque 3D unofficial build

    Working on the storage/hangar site, even the smallest updates still are updates so heres a fence ;)

    Another smaaaall update, telephone poles up and running, no lines yet since i havent got a good idea of how to create them ;)

    Also, how difficult is it to create a map like this?

    I have created a test offroad track, but nothing more fancy yet then a sand road with alot of turns ;P
    Not that hard Id say, theres alot of tutorials for it on Torque's site, simply import a heightmap, there are tools to re-hegiht the terrain in-game, create terrain paint layers that you simply use for what it sounds like, paint the terrain with a brush tool. The brown foliage/grass that covers the terrain is also simply added as a preset part, ive locked the grass to a special terrain paint layer so that the same type of terrain automatically gets the same foliage, great if you want to add lets say larger gravel just by the side of the road with smaller grass, and maybe a more wet terrain in the ditches that you can lock a reed material to. BTW, the foliage like grass or reed can be either simple pics that rotates with the camera or 3d models. Everything like the sun/sky is very easy to implement, with ready-to-go settings. Im using 2 layers of clouds (that moves), also already set up in Torque, though the settings are tampered with by me :D. The 3D models are exported from 3DsMAX which has a COLLADA export filter that Torque use. The models are created by me. Material for everything like roads, grass, buildings etc is my 'own', sourced on google and redone in PS :p

    As stated in the FIRST post its a test to learn a good way to create a terrain with different parts, ive learnt how to create a building easily, but until ive got a good understanding for the rest of the parts i wont focus my time on one building. The dark bit is due to a color filter, also stated in a post ;-)

    Good work, i like it a lot. Is there any chance you are willing to take a request for a building? i just figured it would be best i spend more time on the map right instead of a building in the map :p. if so let me know
