I probably should have mentioned that the textures are all double resolution at the moment (4096x4096) i will half that once the textures are finished

I'm not a NASCAR fan. I never watched a full NASCAR race. But this is very nicely detailed and I want it so badly.

Went to a truck race years ago as a child. The seats were horrible and the only entertaining thing that happened was that some poor truck blew a head gasket. What makes NASCAR entertaining is that the only way to really win is skill, because the cars/trucks are supposed closely matched. Back in the day it was basically which manufacturer could make the faster machine, MOPAR was one of the main reasons NASCAR is so heavily regulated. The Daytona (The Charger with the aero kit and gigantic wing) stomped tail for years, until things became regulated to the point of becoming slightly less entertaining. But at least its not like F1 and Indy, where they plan to put speakers and microphones on the cars to make them sound louder.

I have always went to NASCAR races since I think 2006/2007. It was always Gateway I went to, and that is the closest track to me. It was always nice to go to, but when they announced that they were leaving, I was sad. Then the trucks came back, and it was heaven. I just went to the IndyCar race there and it was my first indycar race. But the seats were very nice until 2014, they were just awful

I currently have 4 assignments for school due in the space of 3 weeks and then a week of essays so i have been a bit too busy to get much done however i have made one quite significant change.
A few days after i first made this thead someone pointed out that the current front bumper with the splitter and braces was not period corect for the d series
During the mid-late nineties nascar trucks had front bumpers with air dams rather than splitters so i tried it to see how it would look. It looks really nice so i have decided to stick with it
    Here are some pics

Take your time man! No sense in rushing to get this done, and trying to do school at the same time.

Okay... they're thinking about relocating the microphones closer to the exhaust on F1 cars because with them where they are you don't get the same sound as you do in person... and I don't think that they're planning to put speakers on them? Idk about Indy but definitely not in F1 the cars are loud enough as they are! Last year me and my mom got seats at Monza on the pit straight... even though we were high up and far-ish from the track, the cars are flying down the track going 200mph at 11,000rpm with no mufflers... they're loud!

Anyways... now to contribute to the thread... how fragile is the bodywork going to be? Are you planning on it being loosely attached or more rigid? Also, what about custom sounds? The V8 sound that is currently in the game is pretty generic and doesn't really fit the NASCAR feel...

The bodywork will be able to move around a bit when going over bumps as it would in real life. The panels will be able to fly off in more severe crashes.
The new v8 sounds do sound more nascar like when run at much higher rpms than the standard barstow or moonhawk engines can manage

I feel the Bolide's engine sounds pretty good for a high revving V8, reminded me of some modern V8 racing engines when the sounds updated.
