So, basically here is what I am trying to figure out. I have read the tutorial for creating a vehicle with blender and what not. The only problem is, the tutorial is just a basic vehicle with no real life counterpart. Here is the car model that I am wanting to mod in: https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/mercedes-benz-c63-amg-edition-3d-model/846408 Given this, how would I go about putting it in the game?
Well, first of all, you should obtain the blueprints of the car you want to model. Here's a list of various different sites that you can get blueprints from: https://wiki.beamng.com/Blueprints
Might I suggest watching this series of videos... it's not the best, but it's pretty good. He covers all the basics.
Hey guys. I’ve got a question about this entire thing. I found the blueprint, contacted a professional to have it modeled for me since I’ve never done it. And he pointed something out to me that I don’t get either. If the blueprints go towards modeling the mesh of the car, why can’t I just buy the mesh that I originally linked and use it?
Then buy the mesh and hire a forum member with lots of experience to put it in and jbeam. I think hiring starts at 30 dollars.
I don't recommend doing that, because there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to make the model into a working mod in game. If you want to try making something, try making a small part like a bumper or a fender to see how much work goes into it. Otherwise, you're going to have a very hard time finding someone to make it for you.
I don't know how well that would go, but if he were to want to go down that route, he should wait to buy the model until he finds someone who agrees to make it for him. I think the problem is that he's going to have a hard time finding someone who will be willing to do it and will be able to make it a decent quality final product.
